Ariana Grande to Join Cast of Upcoming Meet the Parents Movie
In a move that is set to excite fans of the franchise, Ariana Grande is reportedly in talks to join the cast of the next installment in the Meet the Parents franchise, according to a report by Deadline. The news comes on the back of Grande’s success in the forthcoming film Wicked Part 1, for which she received critical acclaim and several prestigious award nominations.
As reported by Deadline, Grande will star alongside Robert De Niro, Ben Stiller, Teri Polo, and Blythe Danner, who are all set to reprise their roles in the film. The movie, which is currently in development, is being directed by John Hamburg, who co-wrote and directed the previous three films in the franchise. Hamburg is also penning the script for the new installment, which is due to be released on November 25, 2026.
While plot details are being kept under wraps, Deadline reports that Grande’s role in the film is currently being kept secret. The film will be produced by Jane Rosenthal and De Niro through their Tribeca Productions, as well as Jay Roach through Delirious Media. Ben Stiller and John Lesher will also produce through Red Hour Films, while Hamburg will produce through Particular Pictures.
The Meet the Parents franchise has been a huge success in the past, with the first film grossing over $330 million at the global box office in 2000. Its sequels, Meet the Fockers (2004) and Little Fockers (2010), were also box office successes, and the franchise has gone on to gross $1.13 billion worldwide. With Grande’s addition to the cast, the film is expected to draw in a new generation of fans and further cement the franchise’s place as a comedy classic.
According to Deadline, Universal EVP Production Development Matt Reilly and Director of Production Development Jacqueline Garell will oversee the project for the studio. The news of Grande’s involvement in the film comes on the back of her success in Wicked, for which she received Academy Award, Golden Globe, SAG, and BAFTA nominations for Supporting Actress.
As Deadline notes, Grande’s ties to Universal likely played a role in her decision to join the project. The studio is clearly excited about the film, and with Grande on board, it is set to be one of the most highly anticipated releases of 2026. With Wicked: For Good set to arrive in theaters on November 21, fans of Grande will have plenty to look forward to in the coming months.
