Battlefront III in the Works? Devs Hope to Reassemble Team

Star Wars Battlefront III: Developers Express Interest in Reviving the Series

The Star Wars Battlefront series has had a tumultuous journey, to say the least. The 2015 reboot was well-received but criticised for its lack of content, absence of an offline mode, and no campaign. The sequel, released in 2017, improved upon its predecessor’s gameplay but was marred by aggressive microtransactions that drove players away. However, Electronic Arts (EA) eventually listened to feedback, removed the microtransactions, and provided consistent updates, culminating in a Celebration Edition that gave players access to all previously paywalled content.

Despite the series’ success, a third entry has yet to materialise. However, according to a report, developers who worked on Star Wars Battlefront II are now keen to "get the gang back together" and work on a potential Star Wars Battlefront III. This news has sparked hope among fans, particularly after a recent surge in popularity for Battlefront II.

Mats Helge Holm, a former producer on Battlefront II, commented on Reddit that he and his ex-colleagues are eager to reunite and work on a third instalment. "Me, having heard around my group of ex-colleagues, we want to get the gang back together," Holm said. His sentiments were echoed by Muhannad Ben Amor, an actor from the Star Wars series Andor, who took to Instagram to express his desire for a Battlefront III. Ben Amor, a self-proclaimed Battlefront fan, revealed that he has logged 469 hours in Battlefront II.

While these comments have generated excitement among fans, it’s essential to temper expectations. Holm himself noted that he doesn’t expect EA to announce a new Battlefront game anytime soon. "I don’t expect Battlefront 3 to be announced at the end of this rally," he said. "But overall, yeah, I think there are people who are talking about it." This statement suggests that while there is interest among developers, the ball is firmly in EA’s court.

The Star Wars Battlefront series has a dedicated fan base, and the recent surge in popularity for Battlefront II is a testament to this. If you’re a fan of the series, it’s worth revisiting the game to experience the rush of playing with a larger community. However, it’s crucial to keep expectations in check regarding the possibility of a third game.

As reported by WCCFTech, the developers’ interest in reviving the series is genuine, but it’s unclear whether EA will green-light a new project. Only time will tell if the Star Wars Battlefront series will see a third entry, but for now, fans can continue to enjoy the existing games and hold out hope for a revival.

The original series, which debuted on the PS2 era, had a planned third entry that never came to fruition. According to WCCFTech, the interest from developers and fans alike may be enough to spark a new project, but it’s essential to rely on official announcements from EA to confirm any potential new game. As the gaming landscape continues to evolve, one thing is certain – the Star Wars Battlefront series has a dedicated fan base, and if a new game were to be announced, it would likely be met with significant enthusiasm.
