Brooklyn Beckham Snubs Father David’s Knighthood Amid Family Feud
The ongoing family feud between Brooklyn Beckham and his parents, David and Victoria Beckham, has taken a new turn. According to sources close to the family, Brooklyn, 26, has failed to acknowledge his father David’s recent knighthood on social media, leaving his family "saddened" and "not surprised".
As reported by the Daily Mail, David, the former England football captain, was inundated with congratulatory messages from his family across social media, including praise from his wife Victoria and two other sons, Romeo and Cruz. However, Brooklyn and his wife, American heiress Nicola Peltz, 30, publicly remained silent.
"Friends of the Beckhams say that they were ‘not surprised’ to see that influencer Brooklyn had again shunned his father – especially as they blame Nicola for controlling him," the Daily Mail reports. "But they are said to be saddened as Brooklyn knows what it means for his Dad to get his knighthood."
The Daily Mail also reports that sources close to the family are now waiting to see whether Brooklyn takes to Instagram to wish David a happy Father’s Day today. "That’s the next thing," said a friend. "He didn’t wish his mother a happy Mother’s Day so it’s unlikely he will be in touch with David – but let’s see."
The family’s feud began when Brooklyn and Nicola snubbed all of David’s 50th birthday celebrations, including a pre-birthday bash at Italian restaurant Cipriani in Miami, a big family party at the Beckhams’ £10 million Oxfordshire home, and a dinner at Notting Hill, West London, restaurant Core. Brooklyn also shunned a ‘boys’ fishing trip’ to the Highlands with his father and his younger brothers.
Posh and Becks don’t think they will have a relationship with Brooklyn for the foreseeable future. However, Victoria yesterday shared her pride at her husband’s gong, writing alongside a picture of her planting a kiss on David’s face: "You’ve always been my knight in shining armour, but now it’s official. Sir @davidbeckham!!! What an honour, I couldn’t be prouder of you."
The Daily Mail reports that Victoria’s post was accompanied by a heartfelt message, in which she praised David’s dedication to his country, work, and family. Son Romeo, 22, also posted a photograph of him and his father dancing at a party alongside the words "so proud of you".
In contrast, Brooklyn uploaded a photo of food to his Instagram Story, sparking concerns that he is still estranged from his family. According to the Daily Mail, Brooklyn has reportedly told his famous family that he wants no contact with them in the latest devastating turn of their ongoing feud.
The knighthood is a significant honour for David, who has had a distinguished career in football and has been recognised for his services to the sport. He is now in Miami, where he co-owns Inter Miami football team, and is likely to come before the King for his investiture later this year.
As the family continues to navigate their complicated relationships, one thing is clear: David’s knighthood has brought a sense of pride and joy to the Beckham family, even if it has also highlighted the ongoing rift with Brooklyn.
The Daily Mail reports that David will be taking Victoria and his parents Sandra and Ted, whom he credits for his footballing success, as his three guests to the investiture, with a huge party to follow afterwards.
As reported by the Daily Mail, David’s knighthood has given the Beckhams something to smile about after they were left heartbroken by the fall-out with Brooklyn.
