Berrettini Eyes Rome Open Redemption After Four-Year Hiatus

Matteo Berrettini Confident Ahead of Rome Open Return After Four-Year Absence

Italian tennis star Matteo Berrettini is set to make a highly anticipated return to the Rome Open, following a four-year absence due to a string of injuries. The 29-year-old, who has struggled with bad luck at the ATP Masters event, is looking to thrill local fans who are expected to flock to Center Court to see him in action. According to Yardbarker, Berrettini has been dealing with various ailments that have limited his appearances on tour, but the former World No.6 appears to be back on track.

Berrettini’s absence from the Rome Open has been a significant blow to the tournament, with fans eagerly awaiting his return. The Italian has a strong record at the event, and his presence is expected to add a boost to the competition. As reported by Yardbarker, Berrettini is scheduled to face rising British star Jacob Fearnley in the opening round on Saturday, and he is feeling optimistic about his chances.

In a media conference, Berrettini revealed that he is feeling good physically and is confident about his game. “I’m feeling good,” he said. “I worked hard to be able to play here. Luckily, I play on Saturday, so I still have a few days to train. After Madrid, I rested to recover from the abdominal injury. Today I had a good practice session with Korda. I’m truly happy to be back playing here: I admit that after Madrid, the ghosts of previous years started to reappear. With my team, I tried not to let myself get down too much.”

Berrettini’s comments suggest that he is focused on taking on the best players in the tournament, and he is not getting too caught up in the hype surrounding his return. As quoted by Yardbarker, he said: “In my career, victories matter less than the emotions. I’m hoping for some special ones this week. Actually, I’m quite sure I will feel them: I was born here and I have a lot of friends who’ll be cheering from the stands. The opponent doesn’t matter, because first and foremost I need to respect myself: I have to be at my best and step on court to win.”

Berrettini’s determination to perform well at the Rome Open is clear, and his comments suggest that he is taking a positive approach to the tournament. Despite being forced to withdraw during his third-round match in Madrid two weeks ago, Berrettini appears to be fully recovered and ready to take on the competition. As reported by Yardbarker, Berrettini’s return to the Rome Open is set to be a major highlight of the tournament, and fans will be eagerly watching his progress.

The Rome Open is one of the most prestigious events on the ATP Tour, and Berrettini’s participation is expected to add a significant boost to the competition. As the tournament gets underway, fans will be keeping a close eye on Berrettini’s performance, and the Italian is sure to be under pressure to deliver a strong result. However, based on his comments, it appears that he is feeling confident and is ready to take on the best players in the world. According to Yardbarker, Berrettini’s return to the Rome Open is set to be a major story of the tournament, and fans will be eagerly watching his progress.
