Monday 12 May

The week begins with the release of the US monthly Federal government budget deficit. In Japan, quarterly results from Suzuki Motor are due, while in Europe, Hochtief, Evonik, and United Internet are set to report their quarterly performance. In the US, Simon Property and Fox will also be releasing their quarterly results.

Tuesday 13 May

On Tuesday, DCC will report its full-year results, while On The Beach, Renew, and Treatt will release their first-half results. The British Retail Consortium’s UK retail sales monitor, UK unemployment, and UK wage growth will also be announced. Additionally, the German ZEW economic sentiment survey and US inflation data will be released. In Japan, Softbank, Honda Motor, Nissan Motor, Yamaha Motor, and Rohm will report their quarterly results, while in Asia, Sea, JD, and Tata Motor will also be releasing their quarterly performance. In Europe, Munich Re, Ferrovial, and Bayer will report their quarterly results, and in the US, Nu, Tencent Music, and Under Armour will also be releasing their quarterly results.

Wednesday 14 May

Wednesday will see the release of full-year results from Experian, Burberry, and Vertu Motors, as well as first-half results from Compass and Victorian Plumbing. Quarterly results or trading updates from Spirax and Creston will also be announced. US oil inventories will be released, and in Japan, Sony and Rakuten will report their quarterly results. In Asia, Tencent, Alibaba, and Hon Hai will also be releasing their quarterly performance. In Europe, E.On, Daimler Truck, Telefonica, ABN Amro, Alstom, Pirelli, and TUI will report their quarterly results, and in the US, Cisco will release its quarterly results.

Imperial Brands First-Half Results

Imperial Brands, the British multinational tobacco company, will report its first-half results on Wednesday. The company’s shares are currently trading at a seven-year high. According to Russ Mould, AJ Bell investment director, Danni Hewson, AJ Bell head of financial analysis, and Dan Coatsworth, AJ Bell investment analyst, "The company continues to overcome a gradual decline in cigarette volumes by means of higher prices, market share gains in its five target markets and cost efficiencies, as well as improved returns from its Next Generation Products (NGPs)." Portfolio Adviser reports that Imperial Brands’ leading NGPs are Blu for vapour and Pulze for heated tobacco, while skruf and zone are its leading oral nicotine products.

Thursday 15 May

On Thursday, 3i will report its full-year results, while Grainger, Auction Technology, Nexus Infrastructure, and Premier Foods will release their first-half results. Quarterly results or trading updates from Aviva and Watches of Switzerland will also be announced. UK GDP growth, UK construction, manufacturing, and industrial output will be released, as well as EU GDP growth and US producer price (factory gate) inflation. In Japan, Mitsubishi UFJ Financial will report its quarterly results, while in Asia, Singapore Airlines will also be releasing its quarterly performance. In Europe, Deutsche Telekom, Siemens, Allianz, Merck, RWE, and Vallourec will report their quarterly results, and in the US, Wal-Mart, Applied Materials, Deere, Take Two Interactive, and Birkenstock will also be releasing their quarterly results.

National Grid Full-Year Results

National Grid will announce its full-year results on Thursday. The company’s shares are trading close to a five-year high, with AJ Bell’s Mould, Coatsworth, and Hewson suggesting that National Grid is "shrugging off" any fears over Labour’s plans for utilities. Portfolio Adviser reports that National Grid is preparing for new regulatory cycles in the UK and in New Jersey and Massachusetts, and continues to reshape its assets by means of disposals.

Friday 16 May

The week concludes with the release of full-year results from Land Securities and first-half results from Future. Japanese GDP growth and Chinese retail sales, fixed asset investment, and industrial production growth will also be announced. US building permits and US building starts will be released, and in Europe, Richemont, Swiss Re, and Aegon will report their quarterly results. In the US, Foot Locker will also be releasing its quarterly results.
