Birmingham City Dig In Over Kwame Poku Transfer Saga

Birmingham City’s Pursuit of Kwame Poku Hits a Snag
=====================================================

Birmingham City’s hopes of signing Kwame Poku have been left in limbo as the Ghanaian winger continues to deliberate over his next move. According to reports from BirminghamLive, the Blues have grown tired of waiting for Poku to make a decision and are now assessing other targets.

The 24-year-old winger is out of contract at Peterborough United but would still command a significant transfer fee due to his age. Overseas clubs, on the other hand, would only have to pay Peterborough minimal compensation, sparking concerns that Poku may head abroad. Peterborough’s director of football, Barry Fry, has attempted to persuade Poku to join his former club, but Birmingham City have become increasingly frustrated with the delay.

As reported by BirminghamLive, Birmingham City made a play to sign Poku at the end of last season but have been forced to wait while the winger and his agent consider other options. The Blues are determined to build a squad capable of competing for promotion in next season’s Championship and are keen to add multiple wingers to their ranks.

Poku’s indecision has prompted Birmingham City to explore alternative options. The club’s recruitment team is now pursuing other right-wingers on the market, including 25-year-old free agent Kanya Fujimoto. The Japanese playmaker has spent the last five years with Portuguese club Gil Vicente and registered 10 goal contributions – five goals and five assists – in the Primeira Liga last term.

However, there are concerns over Fujimoto’s availability due to an injury he sustained at the end of last season. His season was cut short by an innocuous knee injury in May, and Birmingham City will seek assurances over his fitness before moving forward with a deal.

The news will come as a blow to Birmingham City fans who were eager to see Poku join the squad. As BirminghamLive reports, the club are keen to add multiple wingers to their ranks and Poku’s potential arrival would have bolstered their attacking options.

In response to the developments, Birmingham City fans can share their thoughts on whether the Blues are right to consider other options.
