Maher also warned that Galway United will be a tough opponent on Friday night. “Galway are a really tough team to play against, but they’ve also sort of changed their ways a little bit in terms of going a little bit more attacking, but they are still difficult to play against,” he stated. “They’ve obviously got players who are playing really well this year, but we’ve done a good bit of work so far this week, so we’re ready to go on Friday.”
The ex-Bray Wanderers netminder admits that the squad isn’t panicking following their defeats to Shamrock Rovers and Bohemians before the mid-season break. “We’re not panicking because we’ve had two results which we aren’t happy with. I felt the game against (Shamrock) Rovers in the Brandywell we were very unlucky and we found ourselves 1-0 down after a minute at Bohs to a contentious penalty, which we didn’t recover well enough from,” he added.
Maher believes that a couple of wins can send the team flying up the table. “In this league a couple of wins put together can really send you flying up the table,” he concluded.
