Social Change Fund United and Stackwell Join Forces to Support Los Angeles Small Businesses
In a significant move to drive economic growth in historically under-resourced communities, Social Change Fund United (SCFU), founded by NBA legends Carmelo Anthony, Dwyane Wade, and Chris Paul, has partnered with fintech platform Stackwell and the National Basketball Players Association Foundation (NBPA Foundation). The collaboration aims to support small businesses in Los Angeles, with plans to expand across the United States.
The Visionary Ventures Program, launched by SCFU and Stackwell, is designed to provide holistic financial education and development resources to small business owners. According to a joint statement by Anthony, Paul, and Wade, "The Visionary Ventures Program represents our commitment to creating change in underserved communities. By partnering with Stackwell, we’re offering holistic financial education and development resources to help businesses thrive, particularly during these challenging times as our community works to rebuild from the wildfires."
Trevor Rozier-Byrd, Founder and CEO of Stackwell, highlighted the significance of this partnership, stating, "This is a critical moment for LA. When we show up for LA small business owners, they can show up for their community. That’s why we’ve teamed up with SCFU and the NBPA to launch Visionary Ventures. We’ve built this program with Stackwell’s program-building playbook that’s proven to drive incredible results."
This partnership marks the first time SCFU has collaborated with a fintech platform. Stackwell has a proven track record of creating innovative financial solutions and cultivating personal financial wellness, providing a solid foundation for small businesses to build long-term financial stability. The Visionary Ventures Program will serve as a pilot program, with the potential to be replicated and expanded to support small businesses and other audiences in need of increased financial wellness and grant support.
The program is supported by an accomplished Executive Council, comprising NBA giants CJ McCollum and Khris Middleton, WNBA stars Natasha Cloud and Candace Parker, and Creative Arts Agency (CAA) executives Callie Curry and Hillary Thomas, who will serve on the advisory board.
