Carpenter Unleashes Scorching Track ‘Manchild’

Sabrina Carpenter Unveils New Single “Manchild”

In a move that is set to dominate the summer music scene, pop sensation Sabrina Carpenter has released her latest single, “Manchild”. According to a report by Rolling Stone, the song is Carpenter’s latest offering, following the success of her previous single “Espresso” [1].

The new track, produced in collaboration with Jack Antonoff, is a feel-good disco anthem that showcases Carpenter’s signature style. The song’s opening lines, “Oh boy!”, set the tone for a track that is both catchy and empowering. As Rolling Stone reports, Carpenter “tears this guy to shreds” with her lyrics, singing “Manchild, why you always come a-runnin’ to me?/Fuck my life, won’t you let an innocent woman be?” on the chorus [1].

Rolling Stone notes that “Manchild” has all the makings of a summer hit, with its infectious beat and memorable lyrics. The publication quotes Carpenter’s lyrics, “Never heard of self care/Half your brain just ain’t there/Manchild, why you always come a-runnin’, takin’ all my lovin’ from me?” [1]. With its release, fans and critics alike are speculating that “Manchild” could be the song of the summer.

In a nod to her fans, Carpenter began teasing the single on social media, sharing a video of herself standing on the side of a dusty dirt road with a suitcase, dressed in Daisy Dukes, a white button down, and heels. The video, which featured the now-familiar “Oh boy!” line, was accompanied by a reel of Carpenter singing the opening lines to Lana Del Rey’s “Norman Fucking Rockwell”. According to Rolling Stone, billboards advertising the single were also spotted at Coachella last year, fuelling speculation about the release [1].

The music video for “Manchild” is set to be released on Friday at 10 a.m. ET, with fans eagerly anticipating the visual accompaniment to the track. As reported by Rolling Stone, Carpenter will also be releasing “Manchild” on a 7-inch single, with the B side “inside of your head when you’ve just won an argument with a man” [1].

This latest release marks Carpenter’s first new music since the deluxe edition of her album Short n’ Sweet, which featured a duet with Dolly Parton, as well as several other fan favourite tracks. As Rolling Stone notes, Carpenter is set to headline Primavera Sound 2025 in Barcelona, alongside Charli XCX and Chappell Roan, and will also perform at several other festivals and venues throughout the year, including two nights at London’s Hyde Park [1].
