Christian Gudegast Plots Next Heist with ‘Den of Thieves 2: Pantera’

Den of Thieves 2: Pantera Sequel Brings High-Octane Action to Prime Video

The highly anticipated sequel to the 2018 hit film Den of Thieves, titled Den of Thieves 2: Pantera, has finally arrived on Prime Video, bringing with it an adrenaline-fueled ride that has captured audiences worldwide. The film’s writer and director, Christian Gudegast, sat down with Far Out Magazine to discuss the making of the movie, its success, and what’s next for the franchise.

According to an interview with Far Out Magazine, Gudegast revealed that the seven-year gap between the original and the sequel was largely due to circumstances outside of his control. "You do your best and let the chips fall where they may," he said. "I mean, all you can do is make the best movie you can. You never know, especially these days, the box office is so strange with streaming and everything."

The film picks up where the original left off, with Gerard Butler’s ‘Big Nick’ O’Brien heading to Europe to continue his pursuit of O’Shea Jackson Jr’s Donnie Wilson. The two adversaries are forced to form a tenuous alliance to pull off an ambitious diamond heist, despite each man harbouring ulterior motives and a mutual distrust for the other.

Gudegast’s approach to the Den of Thieves franchise has been meticulous, with a focus on authenticity and realism. "I do an insane amount of research," he explained to Far Out Magazine. "Everything in Den 2 is real. All the technology and the way they did it is an amalgamation of a few different heists."

The film’s attention to detail has paid off, with audiences and critics alike praising the movie’s slick and stylish action sequences. Gudegast’s goal is to avoid the usual pitfalls of sequels, which often rely on bigger budgets to deliver a more explosive experience. Instead, he opted to evolve the story, taking the franchise on a globetrotting adventure that explores new characters and settings.

With Den of Thieves 3 already in the works, Gudegast is keen to maintain the franchise’s momentum. "My process is the same," he said. "I’ve already done a lot of the work for Den 3, and I do tonnes of research."

The Den of Thieves franchise has become a rare original action series in modern Hollywood, not based on a pre-existing property. Gudegast is thrilled to see the franchise grow, with plans to take the action to Africa, Brazil, and Southeast Asia in future installments.

Gudegast’s passion for filmmaking extends beyond the Den of Thieves franchise. He revealed to Far Out Magazine that his dream project is a Viking epic titled Berserker, which he’s been working on for over a decade. "That would be my Braveheart meets Apocalypto meets Gladiator," he said.

As for the future of the Den of Thieves franchise, Gudegast is excited to see where the series will go next. With a talented cast, including Gerard Butler and O’Shea Jackson Jr, and a crew dedicated to delivering authentic and thrilling action sequences, fans have much to look forward to.

The Den of Thieves franchise has proven that, with dedication and hard work, even the most ambitious projects can come to life. As Gudegast said, "It’s just about the evolution of the characters in the ever-expanding world of Den."

In an interview with Far Out Magazine, Gudegast also discussed his working relationship with Butler, who has been closely involved in the franchise from the start. "It makes all the difference in the world," he said. "We know each other very well. We trust each other. We have a great working relationship."

Gudegast’s approach to storytelling is rooted in his love for authenticity and realism. When asked about his influences, he cited Ronin as a key inspiration. " Ronin was a big influence," he said. "I worked with Frankenheimer towards the end of his career and life, and had the real honour of working with him."

The film’s score was also a topic of discussion, with Gudegast highlighting the importance of finding the right tone. "The tone is just the tone that I love, you know?" he said.

As the Den of Thieves franchise continues to grow, fans can expect more high-octane action and thrilling storylines. With Gudegast at the helm, the series is in good hands.

In conclusion, Den of Thieves 2: Pantera is a must-watch for fans of action movies, with its slick and stylish sequences, authentic and realistic approach, and talented cast. With the franchise set to continue, fans have much to look forward to.
