Cloudy Day Ahead for Merseyside as Sunshine Gives Way to Showers
A cloudy day is forecast for Merseyside today, with some sunny intervals throughout the day. According to the Met Office, it will be cloudy from 8am until around 4pm, when there is set to be sunshine. The Met Office said: "Rather cloudy overall, though some bright spells emerging. Scattered showers developing, perhaps heavy and thundery in places with gusty winds. Feeling less warm than the weekend. Maximum temperature 18C." There is also a small chance of showers between 3pm and 4pm, according to forecasters.
Tonight is set to be cloudy, with some showers "potentially lingering" in places until the end of the night. Met Office meteorologist Dan Stroud said: “We are looking at an increasing chance of showers Tuesday onwards across southern areas of the country. Then beyond that, Thursday and Friday are likely to become dry, fine and sunny again, with good deals of sunshine for much of the country.”

Mr Stroud said: “It’s been a remarkably dry start to spring, and also a remarkably dry start to May. The final week of May, the half-term week, is looking increasingly changeable, with areas of cloud and rain arriving from the west.”
The Met Office said the driver for the prolonged warm and very dry spell has been high pressure. However, with the change in weather, some areas may experience heavy and thundery showers. Mr Stroud added: “One or two of those could be heavy, potentially thundery, but most places are going to be warm and dry.”
Looking ahead to the rest of the week, Mr Stroud said Monday would see sunny spells in the west develop widely with a “few scattered showers developing across the north during the course of Monday afternoon”. He also warned that Wednesday could see showers develop across England and Wales, with some of those showers potentially heavy and thundery.
