Coronation Street Fans Make ‘Weird’ Observation About Craig Tinker’s Memorial
It’s been a few weeks since tragedy struck in Weatherfield as innocent cop Craig Tinker was killed in the line of duty by newcomer Mick Michaelis. The Manchester Evening News reports that Coronation Street fans have made a ‘weird’ observation about Craig Tinker’s heartbreaking memorial.
According to the Manchester Evening News, Craig was supposed to be on placement with CID but was given the cold shoulder by mentor Kit, and his distracted and rather cruel behaviour saw Craig seek advice from DS Lisa Swain. She was seen encouraging Craig to prove Kit wrong, and let her know if he had any more issues with the detective constable.
As reported by the Manchester Evening News, after being called to a domestic disturbance at Lou and Mick Michaelis’ home, he pursued Mick, suspecting him of being a drunk driver. Mick soon became convinced that Craig was in corrupt Kit’s pocket and knocked the breathalyser out of the officer’s hand. Craig once again sprang into action and wanted to arrest Mick.
The Manchester Evening News stated that but as Mick headed to his van and pulled out a baseball bat, Craig tried to talk him down, but Mick brutally used it to attack him. He ordered him to get up but when he didn’t move, he took his bodycam and fled the scene, leaving a motionless Craig bleeding on the ground.
As noted by the Manchester Evening News, Maria Windass later found Craig, having been left for dead by Mick, and got him help as soon as she could. But despite seemingly making improvements in the hospital, he suffered a cardiac arrest and tragically died, leaving his friends devastated.
The Manchester Evening News revealed that during Monday’s (June 9) episode, Corrie confirmed that a return wasn’t on the cards for Craig’s mum, Beth Tinker, played by Lisa George, who wouldn’t be returning to Weatherfield, months after she was pushed to leave by Kit. Kirk Sutherland was seen, along with pet pooch Peanut, heading to attend Craig’s private funeral. As sister Maria offered to accompany him, he said: “Ta, sis. But Beth really wants to keep the funeral low-key. And I’ve got Peanut as my emotional support dog, so I’ll be okay.”
In Wednesday’s (June 11) Corrie, the Weatherfield residents give their own farewell, and it was left to Lisa to deliver a moving speech after Kit failed to show. The Manchester Evening News reported that fans of the show took to social media to express their confusion over the decision to have Kit give a speech, with many finding it ‘weird’ given Kit’s past behaviour towards Craig.
According to the Manchester Evening News, @swarlanations asked: “I wonder why Craig’s ‘family’ wants Kit to make a speech. Do they know he never had the time of day for him?” @carolineThom67 replied: “That’s weird, considering what kit did to beth.” But @KeeleyTown52229 commented: “Because Craig adored him and looked up to him hence the birthday card. I think Kit liked Tinks but the Mick back story got in the way.” @CharlieBovz added: “Why has Beth not dobbed in Kit, now that he can’t hold anything over her Craigy? Last person she’d want doing his memorial speech.
