Currys Leaders Named as Inclusion Role Models for Second Year Running
Two senior leaders from Currys, Paula Coughlan and Michelle Gorringe-Smith, have been recognised as Role Models for Inclusion in the Hospitality, Travel, Leisure and Retail Index, produced by WiHTL & Diversity in Retail, in partnership with The MBS Group. This is the second year in a row that Currys leaders have been named as role models for their outstanding contributions to inclusion and diversity in the retail sector.
According to Currys, Paula Coughlan, Chief People, Communications and Sustainability Officer, and Michelle Gorringe-Smith, Director of New Business, were specifically picked out as āAdvocates for Changeā for their efforts in moving the dial on inclusion and diversity, and driving lasting positive change.
In a statement, Paula Coughlan explained, "I believe that inclusion helps lift performance even higher by creating an environment where everyone feels a sense of belonging, connectivity and is able to contribute and be their very best."
Michelle Gorringe-Smith shared her thoughts, saying, "Itās important to listen and learn how our different communities want to be heard, represented and included, and to be a supportive role model enabling change to happen."
The Index features over 50 Role Models who are highly effective advocates of inclusion, working to ensure that everyone benefits from equitable opportunities in the workplace and can progress their career with confidence and a sense of belonging. Representing a broad range of job roles and functions, the Index serves as a reminder of the importance of inclusion in creating a winning culture, where opportunities exist for all to thrive and reach their potential.
Currysā Chief Executive Officer, Alex Baldock, commented on the recognition, saying, "At Currys weāre committed to creating an inclusive culture where everyone feels they belong and can be at their best, and where diversity is seen as a strength. Itās great to see both Paula and Michelle recognised for their significant contribution to that culture, which plays a fundamental role in Currysā business success, and for driving positive change through their leadership."
Tea Colaianni, Founder and Chair of WiHTL & Diversity in Retail, also praised the Role Models, stating, "I would like to extend my heartfelt congratulations to all those featured in the ā2025 Role Models for Inclusion in Hospitality, Travel, Leisure and Retail Indexā. Each Role Model featured in the Index is an inspiring advocate for meaningful and positive change. The true impact of the Index lies in sharing their powerful stories and amplifying their extraordinary work, thereby inspiring action in others far beyond their own organisations and communities."
The recognition of Currysā leaders as Role Models for Inclusion is a testament to the companyās commitment to creating an inclusive culture. According to Currys, the company is dedicated to fostering an environment where everyone feels a sense of belonging and can contribute to the organisationās success.
