Liverpool FC’s Curtis Jones Left Head in Hands During Premier League Title Celebrations
====================================================================================
Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones was spotted with his head in hands on the club’s open-top bus during the team’s Premier League title celebrations. The incident occurred when Jones attempted to head a ball thrown by a supporter, but unfortunately, it sailed over his head.
The Liverpool Echo reports that Jones was standing at the front of the bus on Bank Holiday Monday as the squad paraded through the city. Supporters were throwing shirts, scarves, and balls up to the players on the bus for them to sign and throw back.
According to eyewitnesses, Jones nudged team-mate Dominik Szoboszlai and started gesturing for a fan to kick up the ball to the players on the bus so he could head it back. However, the supporter’s kick was not accurate enough, and the ball floated over Jones’ head.
As reported by the Liverpool Echo, Jones reacted by holding his head in his hands as the ball sailed over him. Kostas Tsimikas was sat on the side of the bus and got a touch to the ball, but it was not enough to prevent it from going off the other side of the bus.
Jones was later interviewed by Tsimikas on the bus, where he paid tribute to the supporters and insisted that Liverpool was the best city in the world. “The best city in the world, just have a look at it,” he said. “The best city! It’s my second one (Premier League title) but this one feels even more special. I’ve played more of a bigger role in this.”
The Liverpool Echo also reports that Jones completed the full 90 minutes as 10-man Liverpool came from behind to draw 1-1 with Crystal Palace thanks to Mohamed Salah’s late equaliser. The draw secured the Premier League title for Liverpool, who were officially presented with the trophy on Sunday after their final game of the season.
