Liverpool Weather: Damp and Breezy Conditions Expected Before Easter Weekend
A damp and breezy day is forecast for Merseyside today, April 19, before the weather turns brighter later in the day, according to the Met Office. The weather channel has predicted light rain for most of the morning, with conditions expected to turn drier around 11am.
The Liverpool ECHO reports that temperatures will reach highs of 14C and lows of 6C, with it feeling cooler for all. The day will also remain largely cloudy, with the Met Office warning of a “changeable picture” into next week.
Deputy chief meteorologist Steven Keates said: “The low will pull away to the south on Saturday, although the speed and time of the clearance is rather uncertain at the moment. Some rain may linger across parts of the west/southwest but elsewhere, many parts will enjoy some sunny spells, with light winds and temperatures around average.”
The Liverpool ECHO understands that Easter Sunday is expected to be the drier day of the weekend, with sunny interludes. However, Mr Keates warned that conditions may turn unsettled again on Monday, with outbreaks of rain and showers in the south and west.
“Weather forecasters are predicting a rather changeable picture into next week, with bright or sunny periods interspersed with showers, which are set to be heavy at times,” he said. “Things probably turn a little more unsettled again on Monday, with outbreaks of rain/showers in the south and west, tending to spread northwards and perhaps becoming heavy at times, though there is currently a lot of uncertainty in the details.”
As holidaymakers prepare for the long weekend, train passengers have been warned about disruption as Network Rail prepares to begin engineering work. The government-owned company said it will carry out work on more than 300 projects across Britain between Good Friday and Bank Holiday Monday, causing a number of lines to be closed.
The most significant impact will be at London Euston – the UK’s 10th busiest railway station – which will have no services to or from Milton Keynes on Saturday and Easter Sunday, and a reduced timetable on Good Friday and Monday. This is due to work including renewals of overhead electric lines and drainage improvements.
Meanwhile, travel trade organisation Abta said approximately 2.2 million Britons will head overseas during the long weekend, with Good Friday being the busiest day for travel. Tourism authority VisitEngland estimates that around 10.6 million British adults are planning to take a holiday in the UK over the bank holiday period.
