Cat Deeley’s This Morning Outfit Sparks Outrage Among Viewers
A recent episode of ITV’s This Morning sparked controversy among viewers, with presenter Cat Deeley’s outfit deemed "inappropriate" by some. The 48-year-old presenter, who co-hosts the show with Ben Shepherd, wore a black halterneck top paired with red, wide-leg trousers.
According to GB News, some viewers felt the look was more suited for a night out rather than a morning show, prompting critical comments online. One viewer remarked: "Cat – you’re not having a day at the beach… Dress like a professional at work." Another posted a brutal analysis, writing: "What is Cat wearing today! Her style is getting worse by the day. #ThisMorning."
The backlash was not limited to social media, with several viewers expressing their disapproval on X. One user echoed the sentiments of many, stating: "Cat obviously still in her clothes from a night out #thismorning," while another added: "Has Cat come straight from a beach bar? …. bizarre choice of outfit #ThisMorning."
Deeley seemed unfazed or unaware of the backlash, posting several snaps featuring her choice of outfit on her Instagram Story. GB News reported that one was a full-length snap showing the ensemble in completion, while the other two were clips, one featuring her with Shepherd and the other a compilation of snaps showing Deeley hugging and taking selfies with American actor Jesse Tyler Ferguson.
The Modern Family star chatted with the two presenters about starring in the popular sitcom, which ran from 2009 to 2020. Deeley enthused after the actor remarked how "young" he looked during the show: "You must have such an affection for it, though."
However, the displeased social media criticism doesn’t mark the first time Deeley has sparked backlash on the show. In an April episode of the show, Deeley and Shepherd were introducing viewers to the show’s competition segment, Spin to Win, which begins when participants answer their phones with the day’s "pass phrase" correctly. However, a number of entrants failed to answer with the accurate phrase, causing both Shepherd and Deeley to lose their patience. At one point, Deeley labelled the callers "a trio of schmucks".
The comment left some viewers appalled, with one labelling her decision to insult fans as "very bad taste".
Elsewhere, Deeley’s This Morning co-star Rochelle Humes shared recently that show bosses had made a U-turn on outfit rules for presenters. Taking to TikTok, she explained that all hosts previously had to follow a strict dress code, with jeans banned for those fronting the show. However, bosses recently changed their minds, with presenters now permitted to wear jeans.
As reported by GB News, Humes certainly did seem to welcome the rule change as she sported a pair of denim trousers on the show last week.
In related news, it appears that Cat Deeley and Ben Shepherd are among the ITV This Morning hosts who will continue to push the boundaries of fashion on the show.
