Denise Welch Reveals True Reason Behind Shocking Loose Women Exit

Denise Welch’s Real Reason for Quitting Loose Women Revealed

ITV viewers have grown accustomed to seeing Denise Welch on their screens each week as the 66-year-old is a regular panelist on Loose Women. The TV personality first joined the daytime programme in 2005, appearing in over 500 episodes alongside the likes of Coleen Nolan, Carol McGiffin and Jane McDonald. However, in 2013, Denise announced that she was stepping down after changes were made without her knowledge.

According to an interview with the Express, Denise expressed her hurt and disappointment at the time, stating: "I was hurt that the changes were made and kept a secret, and that the person responsible for the decisions hadn’t come and talked to me about it." She further added that the show’s new direction was stifling her creativity, saying: "Every show needs a shake-up. But the way the show’s going, I’ve felt that my wings have been clipped. I feel the way the show is going is losing the fun of it."

The actress also drew comparisons between Loose Women and her previous experiences working on Waterloo Road and Coronation Street, where the environment had become detrimental to her health. Her comments suggest that the changes to the show had a significant impact on her decision to leave. As the Express reported, Denise had high praise for her former colleagues, but the changes to the show seemed to have driven her to make the difficult decision to step down.

In August 2018, Denise returned to the panel after a five-year hiatus. In an interview with Zoe Ball on her show, the former soap star admitted she found it strange returning as the programme was filmed in a completely different studio. She confessed: "It felt weird at first, because of course it’s not at ITV building anymore – it’s at the old BBC building in White City." However, she quickly settled back into the show, saying: "So that felt a bit weird, but by the time I was in the meeting room and then stood backstage, it was honestly like five years had just disintegrated. And I had a fantastic welcome from the girls going back."

The Hollyoaks star also expressed her enthusiasm for returning to the show, stating it was "great" to be back and that it was "the time was right" to return. Since her comeback, Denise has been a regular on the panel and recently revealed she has no plans to change that. In an interview with the Express, she said: "I love being on the show, I did have a break for a few years but I love it right now. It fits into my lifestyle really well and I’ve no plans of leaving." She also praised the camaraderie among the panel members, saying: "I love catching up with the girls and we all support each other."

Denise’s commitment to the show is clear, and her comments suggest that she values the relationships she has built with her co-stars. As she noted: "Believe you me, If I didn’t get on with everybody then I wouldn’t be doing it, I’m at an age now where I don’t need to." This statement highlights her no-nonsense approach to her work and her dedication to maintaining a positive and supportive work environment. According to the Express, Denise Welch’s return to Loose Women has been a success, and her fans are delighted to see her back on the show.
