Disney’s Live-Action Snow White to Premiere on Disney+ on June 11, 2025
According to a report from IGN, Disney’s live-action Snow White will be released on Disney+ on June 11, 2025, just under three months after its theatrical debut. The film, which premiered in theaters on March 21, was released digitally on May 13 following a $205.5 million global theatrical run.
As reported by IGN, the production costs for Snow White were reportedly "north of $250 million before marketing expenses," which suggests that the film did not quite meet Disney’s expectations. In comparison, Mufasa, another Disney live-action remake, opened with $35.4 million and went on to gross over $722 million worldwide. Snow White’s performance is also significantly lower than that of the Lilo & Stitch remake, which opened with $146.0 million and has already grossed $618.7 million globally.
IGN notes that despite its relatively modest box office performance, Snow White received positive reviews from critics. In their review, IGN described the film as "the best Disney live-action remake in a decade," praising Rachel Zegler’s performance as the titular princess. However, the review also criticised the film’s CGI co-stars, describing them as "difficult on the eyes."
The upcoming release of Snow White on Disney+ will mark the first time that both the original 1937 animated film and the new live-action remake will be available on the platform. IGN encourages viewers to check out their feature on the history of Disney, which explores how Snow White became Disney’s first animated feature.
In related news, IGN has compiled a list of the best live-action Disney remakes, which includes some of the studio’s most successful reworkings of its classic animated films. The list, which is available on IGN’s website, provides a comprehensive ranking of Disney’s live-action remakes, from the critically-acclaimed to the less well-received.
