Easter 2025 Benefit Payments: DWP and HMRC Schedule Revealed

Easter 2025: How Bank Holidays Will Affect DWP and HMRC Benefit Payments

As the Easter bank holiday weekend approaches, millions of people in the UK who receive benefits from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) and HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) are being advised that their payments may be affected. According to an article in The National, both Good Friday (April 18) and Easter Monday (April 21) are bank holidays, which means that payments from the DWP will not be made on these days.

If you are due to receive a DWP benefit payment on either Good Friday or Easter Monday, you may find that you receive your payment on a different day. As The National reports, if your payment is due on Good Friday, it is likely that you will receive your payment on Thursday, April 17. Similarly, if your payment is due on Easter Monday, you can expect to receive it on the preceding working day.

The benefits that may be affected by the Easter bank holiday weekend include:

  • Attendance Allowance
  • Carer’s Allowance
  • Child Benefit
  • Disability Living Allowance
  • Employment and Support Allowance
  • Income Support
  • Jobseeker’s Allowance
  • Pension Credit
  • Personal Independence Payment (PIP)
  • State pension
  • Tax Credits
  • Universal Credit

As The National notes, while some people may receive their payments earlier than usual, the money will have to last longer as payment dates will return to normal after the Easter bank holiday weekend.

In addition to the Easter bank holidays, there are other bank holidays throughout 2025 that may affect benefit payments. These include:

  • Early May bank holiday (May 5)
  • Spring bank holiday (May 26)
  • Summer bank holiday (August 25 in Scotland, August 31 in England and Wales)
  • Christmas Day (December 25)
  • Boxing Day (December 26)

It is worth noting that payment dates may also be affected by local holidays in certain parts of Scotland. For example, residents of Glasgow, Edinburgh, and Dundee may experience delays due to local holidays on September 29, September 15, and October 6, respectively.

As The National advises, it is essential to check with your bank to confirm the date you will receive your payment. By being aware of the potential impact of bank holidays on benefit payments, individuals can plan their finances accordingly and avoid any unnecessary stress or hardship.

In conclusion, the Easter bank holiday weekend will affect DWP and HMRC benefit payments, with some people receiving their payments earlier or later than usual. As reported by The National, it is crucial to be aware of these changes and plan accordingly to ensure that you can manage your finances effectively.
