Edwards, James Clash: Rookie Accused of Faking Injury

Anthony Edwards and LeBron James Clash in Heated Tussle During Playoff Game

A dramatic incident unfolded during the Minnesota Timberwolves vs Los Angeles Lakers playoff clash on Sunday, April 28, 2025, as Anthony Edwards and LeBron James got into a heated tussle. The confrontation occurred when James jumped at Edwards’ feet, trying to snatch the ball, causing Edwards to lose his balance and fall to the ground, clutching his leg in apparent pain.

According to eyewitnesses, Edwards was down on the floor for an extended period, sparking concerns about a serious injury. However, he was able to get up and walk to the Wolves’ bench without assistance, and the team confirmed that he would not miss the game. As reported by the Hindustan Times, Edwards’ injury was brief, and he returned to play.

The incident has sparked debate, with some fans accusing Edwards of ‘faking’ an injury. "Anthony Edwards has perfected the injury overreaction. Nobody is going to be able to know when he’s actually hurt," wrote one social media user. Another person added: "Anthony Edwards miracle injury recovery. Crying like a puss and get up like nothing happened. LeBron got ejected twice in career don’t bother."

As reported by the Hindustan Times, ESPN’s Dave McMenamin provided insight into the incident, stating: "Anthony Edwards was down on the floor for an extended period of time after LeBron James collided with Edwards’ left ankle while diving on the floor for a loose ball. He was able to get up and walk to the Wolves bench without any assistance. He will stay in the game."

The playoff game was intense, with the Western Conference’s No. 6 seed, the Timberwolves, leading 2-1 in the series. At halftime, the Timberwolves led 61-58. Edwards had a notable performance in the first half, scoring 19 points, along with four rebounds and four assists. Meanwhile, LeBron James and Luka Doncic led the Lakers, with James scoring 22 points and seven assists, and Doncic adding 21 points.

The Hindustan Times reported that Julius Randle also contributed to the Timberwolves’ performance, scoring 21 points. Rui Hachimura added 10 points for the Lakers. The game was marked by intense physicality, with both teams vying for dominance.

In the aftermath of the incident, fans took to social media to express their opinions. While some defended Edwards, others criticized him for allegedly exaggerating the injury. The incident has sparked a wider debate about sportsmanship and player behavior in the NBA.
