TV Presenter Emma Willis Reveals She Underwent Keyhole Heart Surgery
A well-known TV presenter, Emma Willis, has spoken out about her recent keyhole heart surgery, where doctors discovered a hole in her heart. The 49-year-old, formerly a host of Big Brother, took to Instagram to share her experience and express her gratitude to the medical team at the Royal Brompton Hospital in London.
According to reports from the Daily Mail, Emma revealed that she had been living with a hole in her heart since birth, but was only diagnosed with the condition last year. The TV presenter underwent keyhole heart surgery, a less invasive procedure that involves making small incisions in the chest, as opposed to traditional open heart surgery.
In a lengthy post on Instagram, Emma thanked her husband Matt and the staff at the Royal Brompton Hospital who looked after her during and after the procedure. She wrote: "A big humungous THANK YOU to the team at the Royal Brompton Hospital for their care and support. A few weeks ago, I had keyhole heart surgery, which feels very strange to write, and even stranger when I say it out loud."
The Daily Mail reports that Emma’s husband, Matt, was by her side throughout the entire process, and she praised him for his unwavering support. "As was @mattjwillis who never left my side," she added.
Emma also expressed her amazement at the wonders of modern medicine and the skill of the medical team. "What blows my mind even more is the wonders of modern medicine, and the spectacular people that save, fix and help us every single day," she wrote.
The TV presenter specifically thanked several members of the medical team, including Dr Alexander Lyon, Professor Wei Li, and Dr Ee Ling Heng, who performed the surgery. "She has an ease and warmth that made me feel instantly comfortable all whilst being incredible professional and informative," Emma wrote about Dr Heng.
The Daily Mail also reports that Emma and Matt have been together for over 20 years and have three children together. The couple has overcome several challenges in their relationship, including Matt’s drug and alcohol addiction. In a recent interview with the Daily Mail, Matt revealed that couple’s therapy has helped them move forward and strengthen their relationship.
