Ex-Celtic Boss in Pole Position to Land Coveted Transfer Target

Celtic FC Reportedly Interested in Signing Peterborough Winger Kwame Poku
====================================================================================

Celtic FC are reportedly in the running to sign Peterborough United winger Kwame Poku, but face stiff competition from over 25 other clubs, including Birmingham City, Sunderland, Rangers, and Sheffield United. According to a report by Celts Are Here, Poku’s impressive form last season, which saw him score 12 goals, has made him a hot commodity in the transfer market.

Poku’s current deal with Peterborough United is set to expire this summer, and Birmingham City have already made a significant contract offer to try and secure his services. Chris Davies, who previously worked at Celtic under Brendan Rodgers, is reportedly pushing hard to get the deal done. However, Peterborough’s football boss Barry Fry is hopeful that Poku will choose Birmingham, but it’s far from certain. As Celts Are Here notes, “Birmingham have already made a big contract offer to try and sign him when his current deal runs out this summer.”

Sunderland could prove to be a tough competitor in the race for Poku’s signature, having recently won the play-off final and secured promotion to the Premier League. Playing in England’s top division may be a more attractive prospect for Poku, especially with the increased exposure and financial rewards that come with it. As Celts Are Here reports, “Sunderland could be tough to beat because they’re going up to the Premier League after winning the play-off final. Playing in England’s top division might be more appealing to Poku, especially with the money and exposure that comes with it.”

Celtic are looking to strengthen their squad for next season, and Poku could bring a new dimension to their attack. The 23-year-old typically plays on the right wing, where Nicolas Kuhn and Yang Hyun-jun are already competing for places. Marco Tilio is also out on loan but may return, providing further competition for Poku. However, as Celts Are Here notes, “there’s also room for a player like Poku to come in and make an impact.”

One factor that could work in Celtic’s favour is that Poku is under 24, which means Peterborough will not receive a fee if he joins another English club. However, if he were to move to Celtic, the Scottish club would not have to pay a fee. This could give Celtic an advantage if they decide to make a serious move for the player. As Celts Are Here reports, “Because Poku is under 24, Peterborough will get a fee if he joins another English club, but not if he moves to Celtic. That could help the Hoops if they decide to make a serious move.”

Despite this, Celtic will need to move quickly to have a real chance of signing Poku. With so many clubs interested and a strong offer from Birmingham already on the table, the Scottish club may need to act swiftly to secure the player’s services. If the price gets too high or turns into a bidding war, Celtic may decide to walk away and focus on other targets. As Celts Are Here notes, “Celtic might not go for him in the end. If the price gets too high or turns into a bidding war, they could walk away.”

The interest in Poku is a clear indication of the player’s talent and potential, and it will be interesting to see which club ultimately secures his services. With the transfer window heating up, Celtic fans will be keeping a close eye on developments in this story. According to Celts Are Here, “Celtic are looking to strengthen the squad for next season, and Poku could add something different on the wing.” Only time will tell if Celtic can secure the signing of Kwame Poku.
