Fallon Sherrock Takes Year-Long Break to Focus on Health

Darts Star Fallon Sherrock to Take Break from Sport in 2026

Fallon Sherrock, the 30-year-old darts sensation, has announced that she will be taking a break from the sport in 2026. According to a report from The Sun, Sherrock, who made history at the 2019 World Darts Championship by becoming the first woman to beat a man in the competition, hopes to qualify for the Grand Slam of Darts and the World Championship this winter before focusing on her health.

Sherrock’s impressive run at the 2019 World Darts Championship earned her the nickname “Queen of the Palace” after she defeated Ted Evetts 3-2 in the opening round and Mensur Suljovic 3-1 in the second round, before eventually losing to Chris Dobey. However, her momentum was stunted by the Coronavirus pandemic, and she has since struggled to match her previous form.

In recent months, Sherrock has been hampered by health issues, which have forced her to pull out of some exhibitions and narrow down her playing schedule. In an interview with Online Darts, Sherrock revealed that she is currently unable to practice at home for more than a couple of hours a day due to her health struggles. “All I want to do is practice at home for a couple of hours a day, and I can’t do that at the moment,” she said. “I’ve had to pull out of some exhibitions recently as well, because I haven’t had the stamina.”

Sherrock’s health struggles have been a significant setback for the darts star, who had hoped to compete in the Women’s Week at Modus. “I really wanted to play in the Women’s Week at Modus, but I wasn’t able to do the whole week of that,” she said. “So I’ve had to narrow down what I’m playing in now, and that hurts because I love darts.”

Despite her health struggles, Sherrock remains determined to make a successful comeback. “Fingers crossed though, that in a couple of years time I’ll be alright and I’ll be back to winning really well,” she said. “My main objective this year is obviously the Worlds. But I want to try and get to the Grand Slam this year, because I feel like if I am going to have a year out next year, I want to make a bang.”

Sherrock’s decision to take a break from the sport in 2026 is a significant blow to her fans, but she hopes that it will allow her to focus on her health and return to the sport stronger than ever. “I just need to sort myself out,” she said. “I need to get myself well again and then once I do, the sky is the limit because I know I can do it and I know how many hours I’ve got to put in, what standard I’ve got to play. So I can do it, I just need the energy for it first.”

Sherrock’s health struggles have been a closely guarded secret, but she opened up about her condition prior to her World Championship first-round defeat to Ryan Meikle in December. “This year I feel like there is hardly any pressure on me at all,” she said. “There are other players in the field who have got the media attention and stuff, so I can go under the radar. I have been poorly. I haven’t publicised it as such. Only a few people close to me actually know about it, but I am on the mend now and hopefully getting my confidence back.”

Sherrock is currently dating fellow darts star Cameron Menzies, who is ranked No36 in the world. As she looks to qualify for the Grand Slam of Darts and the World Championship this winter, Sherrock will be hoping to make a successful return to the sport in 2026.

The news of Sherrock’s break from the sport has sent shockwaves through the darts community, with many of her fans and fellow players expressing their support for her. As one of the most talented and trailblazing female darts players in the world, Sherrock’s health and well-being are of paramount importance.

In a statement to The Sun, Sherrock’s management team confirmed that she is focusing on her health and well-being, and that she will return to the sport when the time is right. “Fallon is taking a break from the sport to focus on her health and well-being,” they said. “We wish her all the best and look forward to her return to the sport in the future.”

As the darts world waits with bated breath for Sherrock’s return, one thing is certain – Fallon Sherrock is a talented and determined athlete who will stop at nothing to achieve her goals. With her sights set on the Grand Slam of Darts and the World Championship this winter, Sherrock will be hoping to make a lasting impact on the sport before taking a well-deserved break.
