Tragedy Strikes as Plane Crashes off San Diego Coast, Four Victims Identified
A devastating plane crash occurred off the coast of San Diego on Sunday afternoon, resulting in the deaths of six people on board. According to reports from AZFamily, four of the victims have been identified as Jeremy Bingham and his three sons, Bailey, Gavin, and Ayden.
The family was described as a "pillar of strength" in their community, with Jeremy being selfless, hardworking, and generous. Bailey, a new father, was excited to celebrate his first Father’s Day, while Gavin was independent yet soft-hearted. Ayden was known for lighting up every room with his energy, positivity, and laughter. A GoFundMe page has been set up to support the family.
The twin-engine Cessna 414 aircraft, which was headed to Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, crashed approximately 3 miles west of Point Loma, a peninsula in San Diego. According to Flight Radar 24, the plane had flown from the Valley to San Diego the day before. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) confirmed that all six people on board were killed, including the pilot and his pregnant wife.
The Coast Guard suspended the search for the victims on Tuesday, after searching over 300 square miles for over 35 combined hours. The water below the debris field is around 200 feet deep. The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the cause of the crash.
The plane was owned by Optimal Health Systems, LLC, a company based in Pima, Arizona. However, the company released a statement saying that the plane had been sold to a group of private individuals two years ago. "We personally knew several of the passengers onboard and our sincerest condolences are offered to those affected by the tragedy, all of whom are incredible members of our small community," said Doug Grant, the company’s founder.
Rescue crews, including the Coast Guard, Customs & Border Protection Air & Marine Operations crews, San Diego Harbor Police boat crews, and San Diego lifeguards, were involved in the search. The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board are working together to determine the cause of the crash.
In a statement, Optimal Health Systems, LLC expressed their condolences to the victims and their families, saying: "We were deeply saddened to learn of the accident that occurred near San Diego on June 8th, 2025 regarding a Cessna 414 aircraft… We personally knew several of the passengers onboard and our sincerest condolences are offered to those affected by the tragedy, all of whom are incredible members of our small community."
The investigation into the crash is ongoing, and further details are expected to be released as they become available. For now, the community is coming together to support the families of the victims. As reported by AZFamily, a GoFundMe page has been set up to support the Bingham family.
The incident serves as a reminder of the risks and uncertainties of air travel, and the importance of supporting those affected by tragedy. Our thoughts are with the families of the victims during this difficult time.
