Fujifilm X: The Digital Camera That Channels Film

The Fujifilm X half is a compact digital camera that combines the best of both worlds – it’s a digital camera that shoots like an analog film camera. According to Petapixel, the X half has a stylish and compact design, weighing only 8.5 ounces and measuring 3.35 inches by 2.16 inches by 0.94 inches. The camera features a 10.8mm f/2.8 lens with a 32mm full-frame equivalent range.

The X half has a manual focus ring, a beautifully machined aperture ring, and a generous exposure compensation dial. According to Petapixel, the camera’s optical viewfinder (OVF) matches almost perfectly with the composition shown on the back panel, making it easy to use. The camera also features a vertically oriented back LCD panel and a secondary screen that facilitates some secondary controls.

Petapixel notes that the X half has complete manual control, but the exposure compensation and aperture are analog in nature, and the shutter speed and ISO can only be set with the cramped touch panel. The camera has a switch on the body to go between stills and video mode, but the 1440 by 1080p video mode quality is dismal at best.

The X half features Fujifilm’s Film Simulation modes, which Petapixel says are excellent, with favorites like Nostalgic Neg, Acros, and Classic Chrome. The camera also has a thumb winder, which provides an immersive experience.

In film camera mode, the X half allows users to choose a film stock and set the number of shots per “roll.” According to Petapixel, the camera’s film camera mode is designed to mimic the analog film experience, but it has some limitations, such as the inability to use classic cable releases.

Overall, the Fujifilm X half is a unique camera that offers a fun and immersive experience for those looking for a digital camera that shoots like an analog film camera. According to Petapixel, the camera is worth considering for those who want a casual and carefree shooting experience.
