Jack Grealish to Join McTominay at Napoli? Latest Football Transfer Rumours
According to a report by The Guardian, Jack Grealish is in need of an Italian renaissance after being left out of Manchester City’s Club World Cup squad entirely. The 29-year-old could be set to join Scott McTominay at Napoli, with the Italian club having rescued the Manchester United midfielder from Manchester last summer.
The Guardian reports that Grealish’s wages are a sticking point, with the midfielder earning close to £300,000 a week at City after his £100m move from Aston Villa in 2021. A permanent deal with Napoli would require Grealish to take a drastic pay cut, making a loan deal more likely, with City continuing to pay a portion of his wages.
Alternatively, Napoli could opt for another adopted Mancunian, Alejandro Garnacho, who has also been linked with Tottenham Hotspur. Both Garnacho and Grealish are thought to be available for around £40m. The Guardian also notes that Ollie Watkins could be a potential target for Arsenal, with the Gunners unsure over the €80m (£68m) price tag for Viktor Gyökeres and uncertain they can convince Benjamin Sesko to make the move to north London.
In other transfer news, Bournemouth are facing a tough summer after overachieving last season. The Cherries are set to lose several key players, including Milos Kerkez, who is linked with a move to Liverpool in a deal thought to be worth £50m. Kerkez’s brother has shared an Instagram post of the left-back saying: "Soon to be Liverpool player." The Guardian also reports that Paris Saint-Germain are interested in signing Ilya Zabarnyi, with the Ukrainian defender likely to prefer a move to the European champions on a far greater wage.
Galatasaray are also in the market for another German player, Marc-André ter Stegen, although the Barcelona goalkeeper is reportedly unsure of a move to Turkey. Meanwhile, Victor Osimhen is set to return to parent club Napoli after a successful loan spell, although the Nigerian striker wants a permanent move to another European giant. Al-Hilal have returned with an improved bid for Osimhen, with the astounding salary on offer thought to be close to £43m a year.
Celtic’s Nicolas Kühn is another player in demand, with former club RB Leipzig wanting to re-sign the German winger. Kühn spent three years with Leipzig at academy level and has continued to impress in Glasgow, helping Celtic to domestic glory and a decent run to the Champions League playoffs. The Guardian reports that Leipzig are expected to demand around £15m for the 25-year-old, around five times what they paid for Kühn in January 2024.
These are just a few of the latest football transfer rumours, with the summer window set to be a busy one for clubs across Europe. As reported by the Guardian, several top clubs are looking to strengthen their squads ahead of the new season, with many players likely to make high-profile moves.
The Guardian notes that the transfer window is heating up, with several key players likely to make moves in the coming weeks. Stay tuned for more updates on the latest football transfer news.
