Everton Football Club has confirmed that Jack Harrison will return to Leeds United following the conclusion of his loan spell at Goodison Park. The 28-year-old made 38 appearances in all competitions during the 2024-25 campaign, but his loan deal has come to an end.
According to a statement released by Everton, Harrison will rejoin Leeds United, with his contract at Elland Road running until the summer of 2028. The news was first reported by The Athletic, which revealed that talks were yet to take place regarding Harrison’s future at Everton.
Everton’s Loan Spells Come to an End
Everton also confirmed that fellow loan signings Jesper Lindstrom, Orel Mangala, and Armando Broja would return to their respective parent clubs – Napoli, Lyon, and Chelsea. Lindstrom, who joined Everton from Napoli in the summer of 2024, made 30 appearances and recorded two assists, but has not played since March after undergoing a hernia operation.
Mangala, who made 21 appearances in all competitions during his loan spell at Goodison Park, returns to Lyon having suffered an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury in January, which ended his season. Forward Broja, who failed to score in 11 appearances in all competitions for Everton during an injury-disrupted loan spell, will return to Chelsea.
Alcaraz Deal Talks Ongoing
However, Everton remains in talks with Charly Alcaraz, the 22-year-old versatile player who joined on loan from Flamengo on deadline day of the winter transfer window. The deal contains a €15million (£12.43m) purchase clause if he made a set number of Premier League starts. Alcaraz made 16 Premier League appearances, with seven coming as a starter, providing two goals and three assists.
In February, Alcaraz expressed his desire to continue playing at Everton “for a long time”. According to The Athletic, Everton is keen to secure a permanent deal for the young player, and discussions are ongoing.
Moyes’ Comments
Everton manager David Moyes praised the loan players, saying: “We would like to thank all our loan players, who have contributed to the positive steps we made on the pitch. They all embraced what it means to play for this club, and their attitude and commitment throughout their time at Everton was first class. We wish Jack, Jesper, Orel and Armando all the very best for the future.”
Contract Updates
Everton added that they would “provide further updates” on their remaining out-of-contract players, “in due course”. The Merseyside club had earlier confirmed that Ashley Young, Joao Virginia, and Asmir Begovic would depart at the end of their contracts. The futures of Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Michael Keane, and Seamus Coleman remain uncertain, although Moyes has expressed his desire to keep the latter at the club next season.
The news was welcomed by fans, who appreciate the transparency provided by the club regarding their transfer dealings. As the summer transfer window approaches, Everton is expected to make significant moves to strengthen their squad.
