Harrogate Florist Unveils Enchanting Sorceress Display Ahead of Spring Flower Show
A renowned Harrogate florist has unveiled a breathtaking floral creation ahead of the highly anticipated Harrogate Spring Flower Show, which returns tomorrow, Thursday, and runs until Sunday, 27th April. The event, one of the most eagerly awaited in the gardening calendar, is expected to attract up to 50,000 visitors over four days.
According to Your Harrogate, Harrogate-based florist Helen James has created a bewitching floral Sorceress, inspired by one of this year’s Floral Art exhibitions, Swords & Sorcery: Fantasy Heroes. The stunning display features a headdress, a floral necklace, and a large bubbling cauldron of flowers.
In an interview with Your Harrogate, Helen James explained, "We’d been asked to create something within the sorcery and witchcraft theme which is running throughout the show, so we decided to create a headdress and she has a floral necklace and a big bubbling cauldron of flowers. The main challenges have been the construction and getting it to fit and sit for the photo shoot really. For me, the floristry is second to none. It’s the biggest show in the north of England and the flower clubs, the students from the colleges, they all come and do their stuff and it’s absolutely fantastic."
The Harrogate Spring Flower Show promises to be an exciting event, with the Grand Floral Hall filled with dozens of plant nurseries and specialist societies showcasing hundreds of new and established plant varieties. Visitors can participate in a complimentary Floral Workshop hosted by Leafy Couture, a locally-based floral design company, to craft their own mini masterpiece. The Garden Advice Bureau, supported by the Chartered Institute of Horticulture, will also be available to answer any burning gardening questions.
The event will feature a range of attractions, including the Floral Art Pavilion, which will host vibrant blooms and captivating themed installations. Large-scale creations inspired by fairy tales, mythology, and folklore will be brought to life by talented floristry students. Celebrity florist and flower show favourite Jonathan Moseley will return to the Create! stage with his entertaining and inspiring demonstrations. New for 2025, garden designer Nick Fryer will present simple yet impactful ways to refresh and reimagine any outdoor space in the 60-Minute Gardening session.
As reported by Your Harrogate, tickets are available to purchase online before and during the show at www.flowershow.org.uk or on the gate. Visitors can also take a seat at the Grow! live theatre, where Garden News regular Martin Fish will be hosting talks and demonstrations throughout the day.
The Harrogate Spring Flower Show is a must-visit event for gardening enthusiasts, with something for everyone to enjoy. With its wide range of attractions, expert demonstrations, and beautiful floral displays, it’s no wonder that this event has become a favourite among gardeners and florists alike.
