Hearn Unveils Big Signing to Shake Up Heavyweight Division

Eddie Hearn Believes He Has Signed Anthony Joshua’s Heavyweight Successor

Promoter Eddie Hearn has expressed his confidence in finding the next big thing in British boxing, and he believes he has found Anthony Joshua’s successor in Leo Atang. According to The Sun, Hearn has signed the 18-year-old boxer, who has already made a name for himself in the amateur circuit.

Joshua, who turned professional with Hearn in 2013, has had a remarkable career, winning world titles twice and headlining some of the biggest bouts in recent memory. However, now aged 35, the British legend is heading towards the end of his career, leaving a huge void to be filled. Hearn reckons that Atang is the perfect man to succeed AJ.

Atang, a former rugby league winger from York, is a five-time national champion and won the World Boxing Under-19 world championships last year, stopping Korean Lee Geon Hui inside the first round. The young boxer has snubbed a run at the Team GB set up and dreams of the Olympics to turn pro under Hearn.

According to The Sun, Hearn said: “He’s the guy in my opinion to follow in the footsteps of Anthony Joshua and ignite the heavyweight division to all kinds of fanbases across the country. Young man, plenty of work to do, we’re going to box him all across the country, all over the world.”

Hearn plans to give Atang a busy schedule, with seven or eight fights a year, and he believes that the young boxer has what it takes to make it to the top. As quoted in The Sun, Hearn said: “Remember what I say, everybody in this arena, everyone tuning in on DAZN, follow this young man, remember the name. This is the future of British boxing and the future of the heavyweight division.”

Atang himself is confident about his abilities and is determined to make a name for himself in the sport. As reported by The Sun, he said: “My mentality is – push myself the absolute limit and leave no stone unturned. I’m fit, I’m strong and I’ll be ready to go with anyone tomorrow. I’ve got what it takes to go to the top of this sport. The future is here.”

With Hearn’s guidance and support, Atang is set to take the boxing world by storm, and many believe that he has the potential to become a world champion. As The Sun reports, Atang’s decision to turn pro has been met with excitement and anticipation from the boxing community, and his journey to the top will be one to watch.

Atang’s amateur credentials are impressive, and he has already achieved a lot in his short career so far. According to The Sun, he has won five national championships and has represented his country at the World Boxing Under-19 championships.

The Sun’s coverage of Atang’s signing by Hearn has highlighted the young boxer’s potential and the excitement surrounding his career. With Hearn’s expertise and guidance, Atang is set to take on the best in the sport and make a name for himself in the world of boxing.

As reported by The Sun, Atang’s future in boxing is looking bright, and his determination and confidence will undoubtedly take him far in the sport.
