Hearts Goalkeeper Craig Gordon Pens Contract Extension

Craig Gordon Commits to Hearts with Contract Extension

Heart of Midlothian, commonly known as Hearts, has announced that Craig Gordon has signed a contract extension with the club. According to a statement released by Hearts FC, Gordon will continue to play for the team for another year, with his new deal set to keep him at Gorgie until the summer of 2026.

The Scotland goalkeeper has been a near ever present for Hearts this season, achieving numerous records and milestones along the way. As reported by Hearts FC, Gordon became the club’s record European appearance holder in September’s Europa League qualifier away to FC Viktoria Plzen, and now stands on 30 appearances on the continent. He also registered his 300th appearance in maroon in November, and has since pulled on a Hearts jersey 330 times across two spells.

In addition to his impressive record-breaking achievements, Gordon has also earned further international recognition. Hearts FC reports that he earned his 81st cap against Greece at Hampden Park in March, moving up to fourth in Scotland’s roll of honour – only Kenny Dalglish, Jim Leighton, and Andy Robertson hold more. His form in maroon has undoubtedly contributed to his success on the international stage.

Gordon’s commitment to Hearts is a significant boost to the team as they gear up for the start of a new era under Head Coach Derek McInnes. As quoted by Hearts FC, Gordon said; "It’s a huge honour to continue playing with this great club. Ever since I walked in the door of the old main stand in 1999 it’s all I have wanted to do. I feel fortunate to still have the opportunity to do that for another year."

When discussing his decision to sign the contract extension, Gordon revealed that he took his time to come to the conclusion, wanting to ensure it was the right move. As reported by Hearts FC, he said; "I took my time to come to this decision, I wanted to make sure it was right. I’m looking forward to the new season, determined to make it better than the last." Gordon also expressed his enthusiasm for being part of the new era under McInnes and the new management team, stating; "I’m ready to do all I can to help get this team back to where we want to be."

Gordon’s contract extension is a significant coup for Hearts, and his experience and leadership will undoubtedly be valuable assets to the team in the 2025/26 campaign. As Hearts FC reports, Gordon is a legend at Tynecastle Park, and his commitment to the club is a testament to his dedication and passion for the team. With his contract extension, Gordon will continue to play a key role for Hearts, and fans will be eager to see what the future holds for the team under McInnes’ guidance.

In conclusion, Craig Gordon’s contract extension is a significant piece of news for Hearts, and Hearts FC has provided exclusive insight into the deal. With his impressive records, international recognition, and commitment to the club, Gordon’s extension is a major boost to the team as they look to achieve success in the upcoming season.
