Hollyoaks Spoilers: Clare Devine’s Shock Return
According to a report in The Sun, Gemma Bissix has signed up for a shock return to Hollyoaks, 12 years after her character Clare Devine was killed off in a dramatic storyline. The news was initially reported by Digital Spy, who have been providing exclusive updates on the story.
Clare Devine was a legendary villain in the show, and her death was a major plot twist in 2013. She was mowed down by a car driven by her ruthless enemy, Doctor Browning. The character’s demise was a shocking moment for fans, who feared they would never see her again.
However, it seems that show bosses have decided to bring Clare back, and Gemma Bissix will reprise her role next month. While details are scarce, fans will undoubtedly be eager to see her share dramatic scenes with her on-screen sister, Grace Black, played by Tamara Wall.
A Hollyoaks spokesperson declined to comment when approached by Digital Spy about the bombshell return news. However, sources close to the show confirm that Clare’s return is indeed happening, and fans can expect to see her back on screens soon.
Clare’s comeback takes place as Hollyoaks prepares to celebrate its milestone 30th anniversary year. Producers have been working hard behind the scenes to plot a celebration to remember, with huge storylines planned to mark the occasion in style this October.
As Clare reappears, it will be interesting to see whether she still holds a grudge against Mercedes McQueen, who was the one who shoved Clare just before she was hit by Browning in the road. The dynamic between Clare and her sister Grace will also be a key focus, as fans have been waiting to see them share scenes together.
Gemma Bissix, who played Clare from 2006, taking over from original actor Samantha Rowley in the part, has expressed her interest in exploring the sister dynamic in the past. In an interview with Digital Spy, she said: "I’m great friends now with Tamara Wall, who plays Clare’s sister Grace. I think it would have been lovely to do some sister scenes with her."
When asked about the possibility of sister scenes between Clare and Grace, Gemma added: "It’d be really nice to explore that. I don’t know what’s left in the village for Clare, but the writers and producers are fantastic and I’m sure they’d find a way if they wanted to."
Digital Spy will continue to provide updates on Clare’s return and other Hollyoaks storylines as more information becomes available. Hollyoaks airs on Mondays-Wednesdays with its Channel 4 streaming premiere at 7am, then an E4 broadcast the same night at 7pm. Full episodes are also released on YouTube a week after their Channel 4 release.
