Hug und Debrunner feiern Marathonsieg in London



Marcel Hug and Catherine Debrunner have triumphed in the London wheelchair marathon, according to a report from SRF.

The Swiss duo dominated the event, with Hug securing his seventh win in the men’s category and Debrunner claiming her third victory in the women’s category.

Hug, 39, completed the marathon in 1:25:25 hours, beating Tomoki Suzuki of Japan by 44 seconds. This impressive feat comes just six days after Hug won the Boston Marathon.

SRF reports that Hug’s performance in London was particularly notable given that he had only recently competed in the Boston Marathon.

In the women’s category, Debrunner demonstrated her prowess by opening a significant gap at the halfway mark, which continued to grow throughout the race.

She crossed the finish line in 1:34:18 hours, narrowly missing her personal best by two seconds.

According to SRF, Manuela Schär also secured a spot on the podium, finishing third.

Debrunner’s victory marks her third win in London, following her successes in 2022 and 2024.

The event saw a strong performance from Patricia Eachus, who finished eighth in the women’s category.
