The Sun has uncovered the disturbing story of Kat Torres, a Brazilian model and wellness influencer who has been jailed for trafficking and slavery charges. According to an article published on The Sun, Torres had built a massive following on Instagram, with over a million followers, by sharing her rags-to-riches story and offering spiritual guidance.
Torres, who began modelling at the age of 12, had access to high-society events and was even pictured with Hollywood star Leonardo DiCaprio when she was 24. However, behind the perfectly curated posts was a sinister secret: she was involved in witchcraft, sexual exploitation, bullying, and human trafficking, which led to missing women and a desperate search by their families and the FBI to find them. As reported by The Sun, Torres’s subscription service offered customers “Love, money and self-esteem that you always dreamed of,” with self-help videos and advice on relationships, wellness, business success, and spirituality.
Desirre, one of Torres’s victims, shared her harrowing experience with The Sun. “I was sexually exploited, enslaved and imprisoned,” she said. “I hope my story serves as a warning.” Desirre, a Brazilian-born woman living in Germany, had signed up for Torres’s consultations, which started at $150, promising exclusive one-on-one time with the influencer. However, what followed was a descent into prostitution and abduction. Torres’s online persona promised her followers that they could achieve their dreams by following her guidance.
As per the The Sun article, Torres claimed that she had a supernatural power of precognition and could sense “The Voice” inside her head, which passed on messages about how her followers should lead their lives. Ana, another victim, moved to the US from Brazil, hoping that Torres could help turn her life around. Ana said that Torres represented hope for her before she realized who she really was.
Luzer Twersky, an actor and writer who lived with Torres, believes that she had money saved up from modelling, but it was clear that someone else was paying for her luxurious lifestyle. He claims that she had a sugar daddy, a friend of Vladimir Putin, who took care of her and paid for her apartment. Torres’s connection with Hollywood’s elite led her to try psychedelic drugs like ayahuasca, which, according to Twersky, changed her behavior.
The Sun has learned that Torres set up a profile for one of her followers, Sol, on an escort website called Sugarbaby, forcing her into prostitution. Sol managed to escape with the help of a former boyfriend, but for Desirre, things took a darker turn. Torres persuaded her to work in a strip club, dancing topless seven days a week to earn money from punters. As reported by The Sun, Torres was sentenced to eight years in prison for subjecting Desirre to human trafficking and slavery.
Despite being behind bars, Torres remains defiant, claiming that all the testimonies and witnesses against her in court were lies. She says, “When I was seeing the people testifying, they were saying so many lies. People are saying I am a fake guru but, at the same time, they’re also saying that I am so real and so dangerous that I can take their minds and change them.” The documentary “Like, Follow, Trafficked: Insta’s Fake Guru” airs on BBC Two, featuring an exclusive interview with Torres from behind the walls of a Brazilian prison. Torres was found guilty of human trafficking and slavery charges and has been imprisoned since November 2022, awaiting trial. Over 20 women have reported being scammed or exploited by her, and investigations into these allegations are ongoing.
