John Cena Booed: R-Truth Chants Erupt at WWE SmackDown

WWE SmackDown Results: John Cena Hit with R-Truth Chants

WWE returned to Bakersfield, California, for a recent episode of SmackDown, ahead of the big weekend of action in Los Angeles. According to Yahoo Sports, the show was marked by a series of intense matches and dramatic confrontations.

The show opened with an unexpected appearance from the “Sethriders,” comprising Seth Rollins, Paul Heyman, Bronson Reed, and Bron Breakker. However, their promo was interrupted by Solo Sikoa, Jacob Fatu, and JC Mateo, which led to a tense standoff between the two groups. Yahoo Sports notes that Sikoa shone in this interaction, questioning Rollins’ leadership and referencing Reed’s past history.

The night’s first match was a significant one, as LA Knight faced off against Aleister Black. Knight had been building momentum ahead of the Money In the Bank pay-per-view, and his promo skills were on full display as he targeted all the participants in the upcoming event. However, his match with Black was marred by a DQ finish, as Rollins interfered and attacked Knight. This has become an increasingly common occurrence in WWE, with many matches failing to end cleanly.

The show’s main event featured a segment with Cody Rhodes, Jey Uso, John Cena, and Logan Paul. However, the crowd was left feeling frustrated as Rollins and his crew failed to participate in the segment, instead choosing to leave the ring. When Cena finally arrived, the crowd erupted in cheers, and he was hit with “We want Truth” chants. Cena responded by riffing off the cuff, saying, “You can’t handle the truth.” Yahoo Sports reports that this was one of the highlights of the night.

In other matches, Zelina Vega faced off against Piper Niven in a “Bakersfield Brawl,” with Vega emerging victorious with the help of Giulia. However, the women’s US title scene has been marred by repetition, with many similar matches taking place. Yahoo Sports notes that it’s “absolutely stunning to see the level of repetition” in this scene.

The women’s Money In the Bank ladder match is set to take place on Saturday, and Yahoo Sports reports that the match is expected to be a standout event. In the meantime, Rhea Ripley, Alexa Bliss, and Stephanie Vaquer faced off against Roxanne Perez, Giulia, and Naomi in a six-woman tag team match. The babyface squad emerged victorious, with Naomi inadvertently allowing Perez to get hit with the Riptide.

The King and Queen of the Ring tournaments are set to return next week, with a possible tease for the Queen of the Ring finals between Jade Cargill and Charlotte Flair. Additionally, the top tag teams on SmackDown gathered around backstage with general manager Nick Aldis to discuss the Wyatt Sicks problem.

In the end, Yahoo Sports gave the show a Crown score of 6/10, noting that it was a “really weird” episode with mixed feelings.
