"It’s nerve-wracking to eat in front of someone on a first date, especially with my oesophageal damage, but I agreed," Katie explained. "He chose the restaurant and ordered a three-course meal. He then claimed to spot some people he knew and said he’d be back, but he didn’t."
Katie’s acid attack ordeal began in 2008, when she was doused with sulphuric acid by her ex-boyfriend. In her victim impact statement, Katie described the attack as an "indescribable, unique, torturous pain" that left her feeling like she was "burning in hell."
