Lil Wayne Snubs Louisiana on Upcoming Tour Amidst Super Bowl Halftime Show Snub
Rapper Lil Wayne has made the surprise decision to leave Louisiana off his upcoming tour, The Mirror reports. The 42-year-old music star is gearing up for a national tour in support of his upcoming album Tha Carter VI, but fans in Louisiana may feel left out. The rapper’s home state is noticeably missing from the 34-city tour schedule.
The tour, organized by Live Nation, kicks off this Friday at Madison Square Garden in New York City. Stops include major cities like Atlantic City, Mansfield, and Detroit, among others. Although Louisiana won’t be part of the tour, he did perform in New Orleans earlier this year. He headlined the 2025 New Orleans Jazz Fest back in April, well before his new album’s release.
According to The Mirror, there is no indication that a Louisiana date will be added later. Representatives for Lil Wayne have yet to comment on the decision.
This news comes after Lil Wayne was left fuming earlier this year following his Super Bowl snub. The 2025 Super Bowl Halftime Show took place in his hometown of New Orleans, but the NFL chose Kendrick Lamar as the headliner for Super Bowl LIX in February.
In an interview with Rolling Stone, Lil Wayne voiced his frustration over being overlooked for a hometown performance. “They stole that feeling. I don’t want to do it. It was perfect,” he said. At one point during the interview, Wayne played lyrics from his Tha Carter 6 album for the reporter. “They coulda had some music… But instead they got rappin’,” he said in between songs. “They f—ed up,” he added.
Lil Wayne also expressed his disappointment during an Instagram Live session, stating, “That hurt. It hurt a lot… I blame myself for not being mentally prepared for a letdown.”
Reports emerged that the NFL had “regretted” its decision, with an NFL employee telling The U.S. Sun, “A mistake was made and we regret the choice that was made.”
The rapper also shared the steps he took in an effort to land the halftime show spot. “To perform, it’s a bunch of things [the NFL] going to tell you to do and not do, a—- to kiss and not kiss,” he said. “If you notice, I was a part of things I’ve never been a part of. Like [Michael] Rubin’s all-white parties. I’m doing s— with Tom Brady. That was all for that,” added Wayne.
As reported by The Mirror, Lil Wayne is now taking part in a tour titled Tha Carter VI. Fans in Louisiana will have to wait and see if the rapper decides to add a date in the future.
