Liverpool Pursue PSG Star in Blockbuster Deal

Liverpool FC is continuing to make waves in the transfer market, according to a report by Metro. The Reds have already made a significant splash with the signings of Jeremie Frimpong and Florian Wirtz, and are now eyeing up another big-money transfer.

As Metro previously reported, Frimpong has already been brought in from Bayer Leverkusen in a £29.5m deal, while Wirtz is set to make the same trip in a club record signing due to be worth around £127m. This move for the German is a signal of intent from Liverpool, beating the likes of Manchester City and Bayern Munich to his signature.

According to Metro, Liverpool’s next target is Paris Saint-Germain forward Bradley Barcola, who is valued at £100m. The 22-year-old is also on Bayern’s radar, but the Reds are keen to beat the German giants to him just as they did with Wirtz. As Metro notes, Barcola has fallen down the pecking order at PSG, which is why interested parties are circling.

The Frenchman, who scored 21 goals for PSG last season, has been labelled Bayern’s number one target, but Metro reports that Liverpool are keen to sign him. Barcola made 58 appearances in all competitions over the campaign, just not necessarily in the starting XI. The front three of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Ousmane Dembele and Desire Doue has taken prominence and suggests Barcola could now be available with a huge bid.

In addition to Barcola, Metro reports that Liverpool also remain keen on Newcastle United forward Alexander Isak, despite the Swede likely to be very difficult to sign. The Magpies do not want to sell their star striker and will only be moved by a bid in the region of £150m, which will be too much for the Reds after signing Wirtz.

As Metro notes, with a substantial spending spree going on at Anfield, the Reds also need to sell players this summer. Trent Alexander-Arnold and Caoimhin Kelleher have already left for Real Madrid and Brentford respectively, but there will need to be more outgoings. Darwin Nunez is available for transfer and expected to leave, while Liverpool will also consider bids for Diogo Jota and possibly Luis Diaz as Arne Slot revamps his front line.

As reported by Metro, Al Hilal had a bid for Nunez rejected in January and remain interested in the Uruguayan, while Atletico Madrid and Napoli are both considering making offers. Luis Diaz has been continually linked with Barcelona this summer and the Reds turned down an approach, but the situation could still change.

The possible signings and departures have fans speculating about the future of the team. As quoted in Metro, “Arne Slot is getting some big new signings this summer.” This is certainly an exciting time for Liverpool fans, with many eagerly anticipating the new season.

The new season will undoubtedly be a challenging one for Liverpool, but with the signings they have made so far, and the potential signings on the horizon, they could be a force to be reckoned with. As Metro previously reported, Liverpool’s impressive Premier League title win last season has set the bar high, and the team will be looking to build on that success.
