Wycombe Actor Makes TV Debut in New Crime Drama
A young actor from Wycombe has made his television debut in a new crime drama series, The Chelsea Detective, which airs on Acorn TV and U. Jude Powell, 21, stars alongside Adrian Scarborough and Vanessa Emme in the show, which will later be released on Amazon Prime and Apple TV.
According to Bucks Free Press, Jude plays the role of Jake Green, a deaf and non-verbal character who communicates using British Sign Language (BSL). In the show, Jake works behind the bar at a pub in Chelsea and enjoys searching for historical treasures along the Thames foreshore in his spare time. Jude’s character appears in the episode titled "Myths and Legends".
Jude’s journey to stardom began with his training with the Deafinitely Youth Theatre from 2019 to 2024, where he achieved the prestigious Bronze, Silver, and Gold Art Awards. He then went on to enrol in The Royal Central School of Speech & Drama for the BSL Acting Intensive course, led by renowned experts Paula Garfield MBE and Jenny Sealey MBE, in July 2024. Currently, Jude is a member of the Hub of the National Youth Theatre.
