Gresham-Barlow Teacher Arrested for Online Sexual Corruption of a Child
A shocking case has emerged in Portland, Oregon, where a high school teacher at the Gresham-Barlow School District has been arrested for engaging in online sexual conversations with a police detective posing as a 13-year-old girl. According to Portland Police, 36-year-old Oscar Armando Ramirez was identified during an undercover sting operation conducted by the Bothell Police Department.
The investigation, as reported by KPTV, began on December 5, 2024, when the Bothell Police Department informed the Portland Police Bureau (PPB) about a suspect who had been communicating with an undercover detective. The detective had been posing as a 13-year-old girl and had been exchanging messages with Ramirez, who revealed that he teaches 9th to 11th graders at the Gresham-Barlow School District.
During the online conversations, Ramirez engaged in lewd sexual discussions with the detective, agreeing to meet with her and making arrangements to do so when her parents would not be home. As reported by KPTV, the PPB immediately informed the Gresham-Barlow School District about Ramirez’s actions, leading to his placement on leave.
A district spokesperson confirmed to KPTV that Ramirez has been on leave since December 6, 2024. The case was subsequently brought before a Grand Jury, which returned an indictment for three counts of luring a minor, a class C felony, and second-degree online sexual corruption of a child, also a class C felony.
On Friday afternoon, Ramirez was arrested outside his home in the Sunnyside neighborhood of Southeast Portland and booked into jail on his arrest warrant. As stated by KPTV, the investigation has not found any evidence of crimes involving students or other children.
However, the PPB is urging anyone with information about potential crimes committed by Ramirez to come forward. Detective Nathan Moore can be contacted at [email protected], referencing case number 24-805317. Additionally, tips about online child exploitation can be reported through the authorities’ dedicated channels.
