London Tube Disrupted: TfL Announces May 9-11 Closures


London Tube Closures May 9-11: List of TfL Closures

As with most weekends, some London Underground stations will be closed or partly closed to allow Transport for London (TfL) to carry out essential work. According to The Epping Forest Guardian, which reported on the upcoming closures, we have compiled a list of all the work on the London Underground, Overground, and Elizabeth Line this weekend to ensure you don’t get caught out and can plan ahead.

TfL has announced that there will be several closures and disruptions to the London Underground, Overground, and Elizabeth Line services from May 9 to May 11. The Epping Forest Guardian understands that some of these closures are necessary to carry out essential maintenance work.

Friday, May 9

The Epping Forest Guardian reports that on Friday, May 9, there will be several disruptions to the London Underground services. These include:

  • Lioness Line: The 0529 train from Watford Junction to Euston will start from Willesden Junction at 0604.
  • Mildmay Line: No southbound service from Willesden Junction to Shepherds Bush until 0615.
  • Suffragette Line: Trains at 0548 from Barking Riverside to Gospel Oak and 0624 from Gospel Oak to Barking Riverside will not run.

Saturday, May 10

On Saturday, May 10, there will be several closures and disruptions to the London Underground services, according to the Epping Forest Guardian. These include:

  • Central Line: No service between White City and Woodford / Newbury Park from 0100 to 0500. Replacement buses will operate between Stratford, Leytonstone, and Woodford / Newbury Park.
  • DLR: No service between Bank / Tower Gateway and Canning Town / Lewisham, or between Stratford and Canary Wharf. Replacement buses will operate between Westferry and Canning Town / Island Gardens, and between Canada Water and Lewisham.
  • Mildmay Line: The 2234 train from Clapham Junction to Stratford will be revised to terminate at Willesden Junction.
  • Tram: No service Wellesley Road/George Street – Beckenham Junction/Elmers End/New Addington after 20:30. Trams will operate between Wimbledon – Wellesley Road and George Street – Wimbledon.

Sunday, May 11

On Sunday, May 11, there will be several closures and disruptions to the London Underground services, as reported by the Epping Forest Guardian. These include:

  • Central Line: No service between White City and Leytonstone. Replacement bus service CL1 will operate between Stratford, Leyton, and Leytonstone.
  • DLR: No service between Bank / Tower Gateway and Canning Town / Lewisham, or between Stratford and Canary Wharf. Replacement buses will operate between Westferry and Canning Town / Island Gardens, and between Canada Water and Lewisham.
  • Lioness Line: No service between Kilburn High Road and Euston until 1200 and from 2030. Use local buses or London Underground services via any reasonable route.
  • Mildmay Line: A reduced service will run between Willesden Junction and Camden Road all day. Trains will run every 15 minutes.
  • Suffragette Line: A reduced timetable will run between Gospel Oak and Barking. Trains will run every 20 minutes and will use Platform 1 at Barking.

Additional Information

The Epping Forest Guardian advises passengers to check the TfL app or website for the most up-to-date information on the London Underground, Overground, and Elizabeth Line services. Additionally, passengers are advised to plan ahead and allow extra time for their journey.

The Waterloo and City line service operates between 0600 and 0030, Monday to Friday only, and there is no service on Saturdays, Sundays, or bank/public holidays. Furthermore, the Weaver line will have no service between Hackney Downs and Chingford on Sunday, May 11, Monday, May 12, Tuesday, May 13, Wednesday, May 14, and Thursday, May 15, after 2245 each evening. The Windrush line will have no service between Wandsworth Road and Clapham Junction until 1015 on Sunday, May 11, and trains will divert to/from Battersea Park after Wandsworth Road.
