Love Island Star Kyle Ashman Axed from Show After Machete Attack Arrest
A source close to the show has confirmed that Love Island star Kyle Ashman has been sensationally axed from the show after The Sun alerted bosses that he was arrested on suspicion of a machete attack. According to The Sun, Ashman, 23, was one of two men questioned by police but released with no further action.
The incident occurred in February at a wake in Stafford, where masked thugs stormed the venue and attacked a 38-year-old man with a blade. The victim nearly lost his arm and was rushed to hospital for emergency treatment. Another mourner was glassed, one was struck with a metal pole, and two people were run over by a car during the 15 minutes of terror at a social club in Stafford.
As reported by The Sun, sources confirmed that allegations, but Ashman insisted he was not a violent person. “I fully co-operated with this police investigation and made it very clear that I had no involvement in this incident,” he said.
ITV chiefs announced that Ashman would not be entering the villa as planned, citing personal reasons. According to a show source, “It’s only right he can now return home to the UK to share his side of the story and therefore bosses took the decision that it was best for him not to enter the villa.”
The Sun understands that Love Island has been hit by a string of controversies since it first aired in 2015, including incidents involving Malia Arkian, Sherif Lanre, Joe Garratt, and others.
Staffordshire Police said they were called to a social club on Riverway, Stafford, at 7.40pm on Friday, February 28, following reports of someone being glassed outside and a fight taking place.
ITV said: “Love Island has a comprehensive DBS checking process and all applicants go through an extensive assessment. We take these matters extremely seriously and know that some unearthing has happened.”
