Madrid Open: Eva Lys Moves into Second Round with Convincing Win

German tennis player Eva Lys has progressed to the second round of the Madrid Open after securing a comfortable 6-2, 6-2 victory over Serbian qualifier Teodora Kostovic at the Caja Mágica on Wednesday evening. As reported by Tennis Majors, Lys, ranked No 68 in the world, will now face No 3 seed Jessica Pegula in the next round.

The match got off to a flying start, with Lys dominating the contest from the outset. The German player’s powerful serve and precise volleys proved too much for Kostovic to handle, as she wrapped up the first set 6-2 in just 26 minutes. The second set followed a similar pattern, with Lys continuing to apply pressure on her opponent. Despite some resistance from Kostovic, Lys ultimately emerged victorious, closing out the match with a 6-2 win in just 56 minutes.

As Tennis Majors notes, Lys’s victory is a significant one, as it marks her progression to the second round of the Madrid Open. The 21-year-old player has been steadily climbing the rankings in recent months and will look to build on this momentum against Pegula. The American player, ranked No 3 in the world, has been in impressive form this season and will undoubtedly pose a tough challenge for Lys.

In other first-round matches, several notable players secured victories to progress to the next round.
