A2 Motorway Shut After Serious Motorbike Crash
The A2 motorway has been blocked in both directions from A2018 Old Bexley Lane, Dartford, to junction 2 for the M25, Darenth Interchange, after a serious motorbike crash. The incident occurred on a busy section of road, close to the approach for the Dartford Crossing.
According to reports from Kent Online, a police spokesperson confirmed that officers were called to the scene at 4:50pm to investigate a serious collision involving two motorbikes. "Police were called at 4.50pm to a report of a serious collision involving two motorbikes," the spokesperson said. "Officers attended along with highway patrols and paramedics. The road remains closed while the incident is being responded to."
An air ambulance was also called to the scene to provide medical assistance to those involved in the crash. The A2 motorway remains closed in both directions, with severe delays being reported in the area. National Highways is advising anyone travelling in the area to allow for extra time when travelling.
Traffic heading London-bound has now been released, however, the coast-bound side will remain closed for collision investigation for several hours. The ambulance service has been contacted for further details, but it is understood that several people have been injured in the crash.
