M62 Traffic Chaos: Multiple Vehicles Involved in Serious Crash

A serious road accident on the M62 motorway has brought traffic to a standstill, with multiple vehicles involved in the collision. The incident occurred on the eastbound carriageway between junction 11 for Birchwood and junction 12 for the M60 at Eccles Interchange, as reported by the Leigh Journal.

According to eyewitnesses, the crash involved two cars and a lorry, with traffic officers from National Highways responding quickly to the scene. A spokesman for National Highways confirmed that all emergency services are in attendance, working to bring the situation under control. "We can confirm that a serious accident has occurred on the M62 eastbound carriageway, involving multiple vehicles. All emergency services are on the scene, and we are working to clear the incident as quickly and safely as possible," the spokesman stated, as quoted in the Leigh Journal.

The incident has caused significant disruption to traffic, with all eastbound traffic being held from 3:50pm. Motorists are currently experiencing a 30-minute delay on approach to the incident, with four miles of congestion building.
