Chelsea FC’s Enzo Maresca Urges Team to Silence Critics with Victory at Nottingham Forest
Chelsea FC’s head coach, Enzo Maresca, believes that the team’s performances this season have already proven many of their critics wrong, particularly with regards to three players who have come under intense scrutiny. However, Maresca hopes that a victory at Nottingham Forest and subsequent Champions League qualification will put an end to the criticism once and for all, according to an interview with Chelsea FC’s official website.
In football, it is common for teams to have a target on their back, and Maresca understands that the only way to silence critics is to win games and succeed. With a victory at the City Ground this afternoon, Chelsea can secure a place in next season’s Champions League, which would undoubtedly make for a quieter summer. As Maresca noted, “We needed to manage noise at the beginning but I said many times that the noise was more from outside than inside. Since I joined, inside the club it looked like quite a normal situation.”
Maresca, who was quoted in the Chelsea FC official website, emphasised that results are key to silencing critics. “When we were second earlier in the season, in December, everyone was happy and said Chelsea were back. Then in February we dropped points and everyone said that Chelsea was not good enough. So in the end, it is about results and for sure if we are able to finish in the right way there will be less noise.”
