Mark Hoppus: Did I Help Catch Saddam?

Blink-182’s Mark Hoppus Claims He Helped US Army Capture Saddam Hussein

In a shocking revelation, Blink-182’s Mark Hoppus has claimed that he played a crucial role in helping the US military capture former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein. The pop-punk star made the astonishing claim in his new memoir, Fahrenheit-182, where he detailed a meeting with a US Navy Admiral in 2003.

According to The Mirror, Hoppus, 53, recalled telling the admiral that he had a plan to track down the elusive dictator. He suggested using drones that could broadcast ultrasonic frequencies, which couldn’t be heard by humans, to triangulate Hussein’s location when he released his video messages while in hiding. As reported by The Mirror, Hoppus explained: "Sir, what about having drones fly all over the region in carpeting patterns, broadcasting time codes above the level of human hearing but at the level that a video recording would catch it."

The Mirror reported that Hoppus remembered the admiral was "genuinely taken aback" by his plan, saying he could pitch it to the Chiefs of Staff. The musician wrote: "Four months later, Saddam was located and captured in Iraq. So, you’re welcome everyone." This extraordinary claim was first reported by The Mirror, which suggests that Hoppus may have played a previously unknown role in the capture of the former Iraqi leader.

The Mirror noted that it’s not the first time Hoppus has referenced the bizarre exchange, having spoken to a Twitter follower about it in 2018. When asked to reveal the "least plausible story about himself that’s true", Hoppus told his social media followers about his encounter with the admiral. As The Mirror reported, Hoppus added credibility to his story by mentioning that Blink 182 played for US troops on the USS Nimitz in 2003.

The Mirror also found that Hoppus’s bandmate, Tom Delonge, has been involved in a collaboration with the US military. The guitarist’s To The Stars Academy was reported to have signed a contract with the military, which committed to donating $750,000 to the organisation’s research for a five-year collaboration. According to The Mirror, the contract states that the military would perform assessments, testing, and characterization of the Academy’s technologies, including inertial mass reduction, mechanical/structural meta materials, and beamed energy propulsion.

As reported by The Mirror, Kari DeLonge, TTSA chief content officer and Tom’s sister, told Vice: "TTSA has acquired material from various sources and does not comment on the specifics of each sample." The Mirror has confirmed that this information was obtained from a credible source.

In conclusion, Mark Hoppus’s claim that he helped the US Army capture Saddam Hussein is a remarkable story that has been reported by The Mirror. While the veracity of his claim remains to be verified, it is clear that the Blink-182 star believes he played a role in bringing the former dictator to justice. As The Mirror reported, Hoppus’s story is just one of many fascinating insights into the lives of the pop-punk band members.
