As per the information provided by USA Today, McIlroy enters the weekend at Augusta National Golf Club tied for third place on the leaderboard at 6-under-par 138, just two strokes back of Justin Rose, who holds the top spot.
McIlroy’s strong second round on Friday, where he shot a bogey-free 6-under-par 69, has put him in contention for the signature green jacket. The world No. 2 golfer made significant ground on the back nine, birdieing the first two holes and then recording an eagle on the par 5 Hole 13. As noted by USA Today, this marks the first time since 2018 that McIlroy has entered Day 3 at Augusta in the top five.
