Megan Moroney Reveals Collaboration Ambitions with Olivia Rodrigo and Tate McRae
Country star Megan Moroney has been making waves in the music industry lately, from performing at this year’s CMA Fest to announcing her second capsule collection with Boys Lie. In a recent interview with PEOPLE, Moroney revealed her ambitions for her next album and who she’d love to collaborate with in the future.
According to PEOPLE, Moroney’s life has been hectic of late, but the 27-year-old is taking it all in stride. As she prepares for her next album, following the success of her second record Am I Okay? last year, Moroney is contemplating who she’d love to work with.
In her interview with PEOPLE, Moroney confirmed that she is "definitely in the studio working on the next album." She noted that the new music feels "lighter and a little more carefree than my other albums." As she describes it to PEOPLE, "It’s more me than ever."
While Moroney is careful not to make the same album twice, she’s excited to experiment with new sounds. As PEOPLE reports, she says, "I’m excited to be experimenting, even though I got the same producer and I’m working with a lot of the same songwriters. It’s just been fun to be like, ‘Okay, what have we not really done yet, and what’s still on brand, but new and fresh?’"
Moroney’s collaboration ambitions include working with pop sensation Olivia Rodrigo, whom she listens to when she’s feeling down. As quoted in PEOPLE, Moroney says, "I would imagine that [our song] would lean sad and angry. I think we would crush an idea like that."
Another artist Moroney would love to collaborate with is Tate McRae, with whom she performed "Tennessee Orange" on stage last year. PEOPLE notes that Moroney is a fan of both Rodrigo and McRae, and thinks they could come up with something special if given the opportunity.
In addition to Rodrigo and McRae, Moroney also mentioned Ed Sheeran as an artist she’d love to get in the studio with. As PEOPLE reports, Moroney became a bigger fan of Sheeran after he asked her to perform at The Bluebird Café with him in March. She was impressed by his dedication to his craft, recalling how he lit up when hearing new songs.
Moroney’s latest capsule collection for Boys Lie will be available from Tuesday, June 17. With new music and collaborations on the horizon, fans of the country star have plenty to look forward to. As PEOPLE notes, Moroney is certainly one to watch in the music industry.
The country star’s enthusiasm for collaboration and experimentation with new sounds is a promising sign for her upcoming album. With her sights set on working with some of the biggest names in the industry, Moroney is sure to make waves in the music world.
As PEOPLE reports, Moroney’s second capsule collection with Boys Lie is just one of her many exciting projects. With her music career taking off, Moroney is an artist to watch in the coming months.
