Meghan Markle Reveals Plans to Go into Business with Daughter Lilibet
The Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, has hinted that she may go into business with her three-year-old daughter, Princess Lilibet, in the future. Speaking on her podcast, "Confessions of a Female Founder," Meghan discussed the possibility of "building something" with Lilibet, who is seventh in line to the throne and turns four tomorrow.
According to the Daily Mail, Meghan was interviewing fashion designer Tina Knowles, 71, mother of Beyoncé, on the podcast. The Duchess of Sussex spoke about her lifestyle brand, As Ever, which she launched in April, and how she is planning for its future growth.
Meghan said: "I wonder if one day I’ll be in business with Lili and we’ll be building something." Knowles responded: "Yeah, that’s the best." The conversation was part of a bonus episode of the podcast, which was released on May 29.
As reported by the Daily Mail, Meghan and Prince Harry have been protective of their children’s privacy, and have not shared an official portrait of Lilibet’s face since her first birthday in June 2022. However, Meghan has been sharing glimpses into her life with Lilibet and her son Archie on social media.
The Duchess of Sussex also discussed her experiences with launching As Ever, and how she is taking a thoughtful approach to growing her business. She said: "For me at the moment with As Ever, it was…great, we plan, we planned for a year, and then everything sells out in 45 minutes – which yes, amazing. Great news."
According to the Daily Mail, Knowles shared her own experiences as a businesswoman, including launching her haircare line Cécred with Beyoncé last year. She also discussed her new memoir, "Matriarch," which was released on April 22.
The conversation between Meghan and Knowles covered a range of topics, including entrepreneurship, motherhood, and building a business. Meghan described Knowles as a "fashion designer, beauty entrepreneur, cultural icon who has spent decades celebrating and elevating black style alongside her daughters."
As reported by the Daily Mail, Meghan also revealed that she has been receiving support from friends, including Tyler Perry, who has been a soundboard for her business ideas. The Duchess of Sussex said: "He’s the most extraordinary soundboard. It’s interesting for us to be sitting down talking about business, because he is that person that when I have questions about business or just when you feel like you’re off your path, I need to check in with Tyler."
The final episode of Meghan’s podcast was released on May 27, and featured an interview with Sara Blakely, founder of Spanx. However, the bonus episode with Knowles was released on May 29, and has been well-received by fans.
According to the Daily Mail, Meghan said in a statement that the episode with Knowles was the "perfect end to a very special podcast." She added: "Ms Tina’s conversation fulfils the promise of the podcast, offering extraordinary advice, and sharing insights about being a working mom, building something special, and remaining true to herself through every twist and turn."
