Michelle Obama Slams ‘False’ Divorce Rumors About Her, Barack

Michelle Obama Addresses Divorce Rumors and Marriage

Former First Lady Michelle Obama has spoken out about the persistent rumors surrounding her marriage to former President Barack Obama, categorically denying that their relationship is on the rocks. In a recent interview on the "The Diary of a CEO" podcast with host Steven Bartlett, Obama stated that if she and her husband were experiencing marital problems, "everybody would know about it."

According to USA Today, Obama made the comments in response to the inevitable questions about her marriage, which have been circulating online for some time. The speculation about her relationship with Barack Obama first gained traction after she chose to skip President Donald Trump’s second inauguration in 2017. As USA Today reported, Obama has consistently denied that her decision was a reflection of any issues in her marriage.

The former First Lady has been open about her decision-making process, stating that she simply chose to prioritize her own needs and make choices that were right for her. As quoted in USA Today, Obama explained, "My decision to skip the inauguration – or my decision to make choices at the beginning of this year that suited me – were met with such ridicule and criticism. People couldn’t believe that I was saying no for any other reason. They had to assume that my marriage was falling apart."

Obama’s comments on the podcast were reinforced by her brother, Craig Robinson, who jokingly suggested that if the couple were experiencing marital problems, he would be the first to know. As reported by USA Today, Robinson added that if the pair were having marriage problems, "I’d be doing a podcast with (Barack Obama)."

In a separate interview on her "IMO" podcast, Obama expanded on her decision to skip Trump’s inauguration, stating that she was seeking to prioritize her own needs and make intentional choices. According to USA Today, she said, "I’m here really trying to own my life and intentionally practice making the choice that was right for me, and it took everything in my power to not do the thing that ‘was right,’ or was perceived as right, but do the things that was right for me."

The Obamas, who married in Chicago in October 1992, have been the subject of ongoing speculation about their relationship. However, as USA Today noted, Michelle Obama has used the opportunity to address the rumors and offer insight into her marriage. When asked about the key to their successful relationship, Obama credited the differences in their personalities, stating that Barack Obama’s more unconventional approach to life has been a source of strength for their marriage.

As USA Today reported, Obama described her husband as "an ‘ultimate swerver’" who has never been one to follow the rules. She added, "He was brilliant and interesting." According to Obama, these differences have ultimately made their relationship more compatible.

The former First Lady’s comments offer a rare glimpse into her personal life and provide a timely reminder that marriage and relationships are complex and multifaceted. As reported by USA Today, Obama’s willingness to address the rumors and speculation surrounding her marriage has been widely praised, with many regarding her as a role model for her openness and honesty.
